Lovely but wet weekend in Chatsworth, managed to bag a pitch for the weekend.

Just got back from a run with Lucy and a passing couple and dog came over and asked if we were interested in some Silverscreens for our Exsis.

I am, but I am also tight, so asked how much. £50 came the reply.

I didn’t have the cash or the stupid secure key thing to transfer, no problem they said, they could wait till I walked to Baslow and the cash point and I went and fetched the cover. They had changed from the Exsis to a very nice Merc chassis Hymer so had them going spare.

It fit like a glove and really made a difference, for the price as well, what a bargain!

There are lots more nice people around than idiots. 👍

Bit green here but why don't people leave these sort of items with their vans when they change.

To buy new you are looking at £350.

If you part exchange to Dealer, they offer nothing for extras like these. If you leave them in, they simply flog them off and pocket the profit.

Likewise when you sell private, it’s rare you get what they are worth so some people keep them. When I sold my caravan for 14k, I paid about 1.5k for the extras that went with it for free. :-(

So I assume these people feel they had a bad deal?

I have no idea, they seemed very pleased with their lovely motorhome.

I don’t quite follow what you are getting at?

I don't understand your quote in post 4
People don’t leave expensive items in their vans when they sell them on as they don’t get the same money back they paid. The silverscreens would have cost them £350. They wouldn’t have got anything if they had left them in the van, by selling them to me they got £50 back and I got a bargain.

They sold at the price they asked for . Some people in this community get a good feeling from knowing their old accessories that they no longer need, are being used by another Funster that can really make use of them 👍🏻

Exactly this, I would sooner something I paid dear for go for free and be used than get most my money back and go in a cupboard. 👍

I just assumed that people would have taken the additional cost into consideration when evaluating the purchase.

Some dealers don’t sell on the extras, mine came with silver screens, snow socks and an expensive slide out cycle rack which was not bolted down so could easily have been taken out and sold on ebay.

 Sounds like when I worked in Morocco where kids at the roadside would have a range of hubcaps for sale that they had nicked.

Sounds like when we were in St Lucia renting golfclubs and balls: the kids would hide in the undergrowth and sell you your lost balls!

I sold my van privately last week and left all the extras with it inc' a Pristine Silverscreens Para-gon. I worked on the basis that it would make it more attractive to a buyer and it sold for the asking price in days with no hassle.

My wifes first 'job' was selling found golf balls every Saturday morning.
50p each, it paid for her horse riding.

Most of the balls came from the lake on the course which was drained twice a year.
She had first dibs on from the groundsman.

What I didn't say was that the kids would lift your balls:eek: when you weren't looking!

Because they are now 50 pounds better off.BUSBY.

When I sold my parent van it went with everything , I kept the chairs,, which are way to big for mine. However I did when I bought mine bought with all extras included as they were giving up . so what goes around comes around and bought my external silver screens 2nd hand from a funster :giggle:

No experience with selling a MH, but if my cars or motorcycles have gone to a dealers I strip out all my extras and sell them myself.

When I’ve sold them privately, particularly my motorcycles I’ve usually left them on. When I sold my Fazer 1000, to a guy who came down from Birmingham to look at it, I gave him a full set of luggage and other bits.

Another came to buy my sons Bandit, he was just starting out in biking and mentioned he was going touring with friends the following week. I chucked in a Givi rack, top box and soft panniers for him.

Unless it's integral, or part of the negotiation, it's pretty dumb to leave expensive extras like screens, or lithium etc in a van you sell to a dealer.

When selling privatley they can be sold to the buyer as extras or as part of the deal to sweeten it. But extras have value, imo giving them away to a seller for nothing is dumb, if the money means nothing to you there are alway people in our community you can give them too or sell them cheaply (y)
