Not much sleep to be had overnight in Oban with the wind & rain blowing up the coast !

I managed to squeeze a few hours paddling in yesterday morning and heard on my VHF Stornaway Coastguard issuing gale F8-F9 warnings for overnight and it feels like they got it right.

I can see the silhouette of my kayak still alongside the van, but I bet there a few worried awning owners on site.

We're in Hawes, Yorkshire at the moment and itsi pretty windy here too.

I think that’s part of the problem, the weather was lovely on arrival and lulled me in to a false sense of security

It’s much nicer now the rain has passed through, but I’m keeping the kayak off the roof for the time being. I’m happier with it on the sheltered side, where it’s making none of the horrendous noises it was making up on top yesterday as the wind strengthened.

go 15 minutes back up the road to taynuilt and into Loch Etive. sheltered in most wind conditions. we fish there all winter from boat in all sorts of weathers

One to keep in mind for the future thanks, I've already moved a bit further north and getting a bit paddling in on Loch Linnhe.

If it's any consolation it's blowing a gale here in roquetes de mar andalucia too

But it is still 19° at 22.45 so not all bad
