The Westys are off to Scandinavia👍👍

Have a good un Westy,
I have missed what your planned route is?
Does it mean we normal people won't see stuff you post if you are doing this journal thing?
No Bob, I’ll put the journey on this thread also👍👍 plan is sail to Holland today, then sat 2.30am we catch the ferry from Travemünde to Helsinki the work our way up to Nordkapp, then meander back down through Norway and Denmark Germany and back home👍
Hoping to see the northern lights sometime up there👍👍

Lined up now waiting to board at 8.00am

Nice, i'll follow. Plenty pics pretty please.

Will you get as far north so as you driving the E6 along the top coast of Nordcap? I’ve flown into Alta a couple of times (for fishing) and usually use the ferry to get over to Sandlandsvien where we base ourselves. I have driven in a borrowed car up that way and there is some wonderful scenery and remote places.. I hope you don’t run out of weather… an early dump may make it challenging.

Yeah we’re keeping close eye on weather, but we anticipate getting to Nordkapp without the white stuff🤞🤞 then onto kirkenes then across to alta, hammerfest etc👍👍

There is some amazing shore fishing all around that area. Some of the coast line there has 60-100m and more with a 5m cast. You can cast a 600g Perk count to 20 and pump retrieve and catch big cod and Coalies very easily. Dining like a king every evening with fresh fish.

I had similar experience when y worked in North East of Sweden near Umea.

If you fed them on the shoreline for a couple of days, they would come and nearly feed from your hand.

Made it very convenient when one needs a fish supper.

In the winter, of course, you had to cut a hole in the ice! 🤔

Looks as if you are set for a fantastic trip Ade. Hope you and Val have a great time and the weather is kind. At least you no longer have the pressure of getting back in time for work! Enjoy. (y)

Have a great trip !

Hope the ferry crossing is good, it's started blowing a bit around the north Essex coast line, but you should be at least ten yards off shore by now if you left at 9am ..... (It's a slow bloody ferry but does the job lol)

Have a great trip! The first of many extended ones, now you're retired.😀😀

Hopefully he has 2 sets of chains , so all corners have grip, enough dried food from the army surplus and all will be good 🥶😇😎

Have a great trip, there's a good little park up just around the corner from the port if you don't fancy driving anywhere tonight...

Ignore the above, looks like that one is now closed, shame. :-(

Indeed. We were in Hoek of Holland in early July. All 5 official motorhome places were taken, and we were advised by the local police (a knock on the door) that we would be fined if we overnighted in any of the other adjacent parking spaces. There were about another half dozen motorhomes who were similarly moved on.

Shame, as it's a great spot overlooking the waterway.

Well arrived at a lovely little working farm at 7.30 ish from the ferry at Hook V Holland. It’s a great little park up for the princely sum of €15 (I needed the facilities, water, waste and cassette) it’s about a hour and a half from the ferry port (camperplaatz groot Westerwald)👍

And it didn't need adjusting at all on the app.
Moderated and it appears for others to see on the community map.
Nice one.
