Hello All,
I was following with interest along with lots of other funsters
the problems one of our new friends was having in France (I seem to recall)
he had gone into what seemed to be limp mode
and ended up on the hard shoulder for 7 hours
there was lots of advice from the group, and as i recall
he was helped to find a Fiat garage which was going to check it out
I lost the thread somehow, and was interested to know how
it was eventually diagnosed and hopefully sorted
anyone recall this thread ?

Thanks C C makes interesting reading,
and a lesson for those perhaps not so mechanical savvy,
do not leave ignorance of things mechanical put you in a false comfort zone
some vehicle issues abroad leave you at the mercy of the repairer,
and some of the threads on here relate to some stratospheric charges
My advise if you have to rely on garages to do all your work
before a foreign holiday have the MH given at least a full engine service
or if you do not have a service history, start your own with a total full service
have this done about a month before your trip
as sometimes there can be some glitch after a service (oil leak, rattle, binding hand brake etc)
these are rare from a recommended repairer, but these things can happen
and with the service a month before your trip, if anything should crop up
you are at home and can have your repairer sort it out.
Hope this helps those that think a service is not necessary if everything is working.
It is a good insurance policy to adopt

Always have my stuff serviced to the book, just asking for trouble otherwise.

Use to run large earthmoving equipment years ago that would be working 100+ hours a week and needed servicing every month, most breakdowns I had were mostly hoses.

Memories there on plant had to be serviced on hrs run ?

Not many firms do it now unfortunately.
Had a contract in Heathrow about 10 years ago to extend the plane parking area, hired a brand new machine had it nearly a year and not 1 service!
When it finally broke down I asked the fitter why they never serviced the machines and he said that they lease the machines and as they have 1500 items with an average service cost of £4-500, as long as they can drive the machine onto a lorry at the end of the lease they pay nothing.
probably saving themselves millions!!
Just wouldn’t want to buy anything if theirs.

Hi.
Saturday afternoon/evening servicing up at the garage. " Have you checked everything ? I don't want anybody breaking down on monday, just for a job that needs doing..... There are enough of us here to Strip and rebuild a flaming unit in a couple of hours...,so think before you all head off home." Quote from Sinner.

Seeing that I am surrounded with mechanics in the family, our vehicles are serviced at all the service points and with the motorhomes they are done every year even though they are no where near their service time on milage.
Surprising how little it costs if you don't have to include labour.

Wow, do you think anyone in your family would consider adopting me?
