Being on the road with a purpose is brilliant.

The first night near the Spanish Border was here...

50 kms from Vilar Formoso...

A dump point and water.

And a lake too... don't know if you can swim in it as I haven't walked down there yet.

Next stop... near Burgos to meet up with my VIP Froggy then back down to Portugal...

Motorhoming... don't you just love it...

Can you believe it?

A sort of break down!

As I pulled off the aire I heard a terrible "thumping" noise from the off-side rear.

A large stone had become wedged between the tyres of the twin wheels.

Back into the aire and then what a struggle.

Couldn't loosen wheel nuts... bloody hammer air gun thingies.

Didn't want to let the air out...

Ended up jacking the wheel up which meant getting my broken body under the van in the hot sun and dust...

Once both wheels were up in the air and the "side wall bulges" went the wretched stone came loose.

Now at border... just had a wash and a couple of slices of ice cool melon...

Feel revived and am now going onto the most boring road in the world... Salamanca, Valladolid, Burgos.

Leaving no stone unturned then? :) We are planning to visit Salamanca in October on the way back. Supposed to be a lot to see there. Just checked the weather forecast and it doesn't seem that hot in central Spain, 28C maximum for the rest of this week. It can get a lot hotter than that I think.

Can't remember ;)
I used to tie a strap to stones/bricks wedged in the twin tires then tie the strap to the rear spring or tow bar or tree then drive off slowly to pull it out ;)

At last ..... I am on my way!

I thought I would never be on the road!
If I was telling you all the problems I had since I had french registration on Max, you would not believe me ! Even JJ said (the very optimistic JJ!)... "It will never end"....

Up to the last minute iI didn't know if I could go and head towards Burgos! I was flooded this morning! I could not even go to Max to put my things in!
A lake in front of my door...! And then the miracle .... At about 12.00, rain stopped, and a ray of sun made its way through the clouds. Slowly the water went back in the river's bedand within a few minutes I could access Max!
At 3.00 I was on my way to Urrugne , to the Larouletta Campsite!

I am now there, having a little glass of Ricard as a reward after all these days of Wonder, and just like JJ ...... I love being on the road!! And Max behavied beautifully!

I wonder what Tomorrow is cooking for me....I just hope Max starts all right and a bit of sun would be a nice extra!

I was not much on the site lately but to all the funsters who had their birthday I wish them the best, and to all that had health prob or just any kind of problems .... I hope you are better/ your problems are sorted.

We meet up as planned and head south.

My Princess doesn't fancy a night on a beautiful motorway service station and so we end up in the middle of a tiny Spanish village where it appears that our arrival is the major event of the year.

Of course she speaks Spanish and before I can do anything, she has a man in her motorhome who leads us here...

A quick chair check...

And now a coffee...

Sadly it appears I have to make my own!

Should be in a cool Portuguese lake this time tomorrow...

"Man Plans, God Laughes..."

After a peaceful night and waking to glorious sunshine we set off and got 2 kms.

Max threw a wobbly and spat out all his water.

20140806_103745_zps19aabaa5.jpg

Luckily there was a top English mechanic in a Hymer 660S just in front.

Leak was located coming from the recently replaced water pump area...

A passing local directed us to a nearby garage.

Fault soon found...

Once fault was found and being a (brilliant) Spanish garage... they then go for lunch...

so did we...

I don't CARE whether you have broken down or not.
I have been using one of these air gun thingies for years.

The local garage place uses it AND allows me to use it...

They are the main broken body suppliers in this area of Portugal.

The ignorance displayed about this stone in wheel subject drives MAD.

OK. If you don't want to use a wretched stone FINE.

If you are in the teeniest, weeniest bit worried DON'T...

Filling your stomach up slices of ice cool melon is much more dangerous...(y)(y);););)

Well... what I thought was their lunch was a tea break...

The pipe has been brazed up and refitted and they have refilled the radiator...

NOW it is lunchtime... they will be back in a couple of hours...

My Princess has moved into my Hymer temporarily...

This meant I have had to spend the last 15 minutes cleaning the loo!

Holidays hey!

Okay...

My Princess got lucky last night and using her skill at speaking Spanish found an excellent overnight stopping place.

Because of Max's minor wobbly (all sorted now but boy did the excellent garage know how to charge) we failed to reach our target location...

... so it fell upon the experienced, rufty tufty, off-site, free loading tosser to find our spot for tonight.

A couple of minutes from the motorway and 90 kms from Portugal.

Let's hope now that Max is going to give me a rest!!!!
I feel a tad fed up with the worries ... and would like hols to start for good!

I do think I've had my lot since I bought it... sorry ...HIM!

At least we are 2 to face Max's tantrums, and this is quite comforting!
As for the positive bit, we are having good time, and are very lucky to find places like we found in small Spanish villages and honestly, up to now, the people have been charming! And I find very comforting too, to see that funsters follow us and wish us good luck!

Thanks to you all!

11.30 (proper time) and after a completely trouble free 100kms we have arrived in Portugal so now all my systems work again!

Off to the lakeside "aire" I discovered the other day via a supermarket...
