My poor Princess just wants some peace and quiet and to relax but...

Guess what the town is holding in the adjacent field?

Some sort of Festival Of The Bulls...

Drums and people and music and excited youth with motorbikes and quad thingies!

I MIGHT struggle over there for some photos...

The first part of the Bull Bullying featured a few lads protected by a wooden "fork like" contraption winding up the (pretty small) bull.

Using old-mo's photographic skills you can see I have captured the space where the (very small) bull will appear seconds after this photo was developed.

Two nights at Malata lakeside and it is time to move on...

Rufty Tufty Off-Site Motorhomers don't hang around.

Halfway through the drive to Pont De Sor we came across this heaven sent layby with ice cool mountain water flowing freely. RTOSMs fill their tanks with it.

Then a major shop at the Continente Supermarket on the outskirts of Castello Branco and we eventually get to the lake near Montargil.

It was a very hot trip but a swim in the lake cooled us down and then...

My Princess goes topless to dry off!

What a super motorhoming day.

MAN PLANS, GOD LAUGHES.

After idylic days at our "Quiet Lake" we move off and head towards the well known favourite spot for off-siters at Pego Do Altar.

It's by a lake and Rui's restaurant serves up octopus which my Princess adores.

A fantastic pootle along mostly empty roads and through small villages and we arrive to find the spot taken over completely by "Youth"...

...and as you can tell by how close they are parked together...

They are all French vans!

I bet it is party time tonight... all night!

I wish I could speak the lingo , I would tell them to go away... it's our favorite spot! But ...... I can't.... So we'll stay parked where we are!! Life can be so hard sometimes

Bob and Janie ....I 'll be thinking of you two tomorrow when we'll be at Rui's! I wish you were there too! What a great time we've had last time...very nice memory to me!

Oh how spoilt we were Frankie! You are very generous and decidedly sneaky :-D We hope Rui has plenty of Octopus for you and I was thinking of the Eel only a day or two ago. I really also enjoyed our walk, complaints from the men but it was still fun and getting rufty tufty JJ sitting outside his van on a chair, an event not to be forgotten!

Well we had lunch at Rui's and then went to the little municipal campsite next to the Intermarche just outside Alcacer do Sal.

It was full and you can't book in advance so rather than the the couple of planned nights there we did a 100 kms trip to here...

The barragem at Monte Rocha.

I haven't ever seen the water so low on previous visits over the years.

My Princess is having a little nap but afterwards maybe we will have a drink in the bar across the road.

Mister JJ's presence being required on some other important subject .... ( sorry can't say more ...HIS people check all I'm saying on here!).... I'm now the "voice" of this thread. Mind you, might be just for the week end really , as soon as foo...I mean as soon as conference is over, the owner of this thread will come back and I'll go back to my little corner... did I say corner? I must be under some dreadful influence

Anyway, you must be dying to know how our adventures are going on ! (If not , change page please , as I don't like to be a pain )

So we left that lovely place we were , by the dam, after a very restful sleep!

Sun was shining in the sky and in our hearts as we both love driving!
After a few miles we decided to fill up the fridges as we intend to stay at least 4 days at Portimao!! Well shall I add we hope ... Max hasn't done any tantrum since last one so we don't do plans too much ...just in case!!

We have reached Portimao at about 2.30!
Very hot, but a nice wind keeps us cool enough...until nice wind became strong wind... All around is flying papers, dust, but as well our curtains. JJ just shut his door in despair, and I must say I can feel a headache coming!

Can anyone tell us what's the speed of the wind as we get 2 different answers from our different sites!

So no bathe for today ..... but tomorrow cycling and bathing and an English breakfast for both of us , in a little café we like to go to!

Annoyance with myself.


Followed by huge waves of relief.

Yesterday I took our two bicycles off the rack in anticipation of a short pedal to the beach.

In the end we didn't go.

At 6.25am I look out of my window and my Princess's beautiful, pink bike has gone!

I hadn't locked it.

I was so angry with myself for forgetting to lock it and staggered that someone had walked all the way over to where we are parked, well out of the way of everyone, and pinched it.

I waited ages for Frankie to wake up and as she opened her door and her happy, smiley face appeared, I told how sorry I was and how I would buy her another one this very day...

And she called me a silly old fool and it wasn't stolen... she had locked it up to an old trailer ten metres away.

I was so relieved I wasn't even cross about the "silly old fool" bit.
