Sun shining and nice and warm but blowing an absolute gale. Pity we are not into wind sports. ::bigsmile:

We've had to take down our safari room and pack away our awning it was being blown to bits. Happy now would hate to have lost the awning!

This is now officially a hard hat area, pine cones being blown out of the trees, they are big too, one hit Bryan on the head :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO: He said it didn't hurt, me thinks where there's no sense there's no feeling :ROFLMAO:

Yes it has been a bit breezy today :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
It's what's called The Levante around here - it's the warm wind from the east.

http://www.weatheronline.co.uk/reports/wind/Levante.htm

We've just had to swap the contents of our tents around as the kitchen tent decided to self destruct!!!:Eeek::Eeek:
It's nailed to the ground and not moved anywhere but the fabric decided to rip!:Eeek:

It's been in use for 2 years now and has taken some stick - cost us about £70 in Decathlon so doesn't owe us anything!
We've patched it up with Gaffer Tape and we're hoping it holds together - it is now the storage tent! May need a trip to Decathlon to replace it soon!

The wind is due to die down somewhat tomorrow (we hope) it doesn't usually last very long and we don't get it too often! At least it's nice and warm here!

The Spanish Job ANYONE GO??

Hello Everyone,

Is there anyone out there who has been/is still at the Spanish rally with Lady Penelope?

What's the verdict? We're looking for somewhere to spend next winter, been in Benicassim this season (think it may close this year tho ) and want somewhere that's alcohol ridden to spend next winter. Time for a change, been there for 2 seasons now.

How far is the site from the shops? We don't carry a small car for the shopping and trips out - only bikes.

We've spent some time in Conil, and Barbate, but don't know from memory the distances involved, is it get your van out jobbie or can we cycle? (not best at cycling must add)

We're currently trying out Javea, but it feels a bit 'costa' haven't heard much Spanish spoken altho we been here almost a week.

Be glad for any info, and thanks in advance

Hi Rosemary and Bryan
We were at Pinar San Jose last winter from December to March, one word to decribe it.............FANTASTIC.
We made so many new friends both motorhomers and tuggers, and we had parties nearly every week, there is a well stocked shop on site and the staff will bend over backwards to help you out, theres nice walks either to Cape Trafalgar via Las Dunas or maybe the nearest beach via Tultulia (both nice bars) at night you hear the crickets, the frogs and toads croaking and the roar of the Atlantic Ocean in the distance. We loved it so much we're going back later in the year.
Yes.......Fantastic:thumb::thumb:

Rosemary and Bryan - the Snails

Hi Rosemary and Bryan

Can I just point out please that it is not a rally!!
A rally implies organisation and activities etc - we do not do this!

This is a site we come on for the winter - this is our 3rd year. We mentioned it to a few funsters and it snowballed!:Eeek: Not my doing I may add!

The site offers good rates for long stay or if you only want a short stay they are in the ACSI book at €15.

Occasionally we will organise a quiz night in the bar - this is something we do ourselves - not organised by the site. It is a very ad hoc basis - sometimes every 2 weeks - sometimes not - sometimes a Friday other times a Monday or Tuesday - we don't have a timetable of events!

If you think of Bonterra Park then Pinar San Jose is the opposite and we love it here!

We would love to see you here next winter but please don't have any expectations of organisation!

You'll hear plenty of Spanish spoken here - most don't speak any English. You'll also see plenty of Spanish food - that's all there is!

Conil is 6 miles away - but the supermarket on site is excellent!

Look forward to meeting you next winter if you decide to visit!

Hey Marie, stop missrepresenting he site. It's total rubbish with loads of rubbish people, miles from anywhere, with nothing to do.

Regards Richard:winky:

That should help stop too many people turning up. Please make sure the pitch we booked for next year is ok.

Too short a time at Zahora

Left Pinar San Jose today and currently pitched up at Dos Hermanas on the outskirts of Seville.
Lovely sunlit evening barbecue aside, we're rather missing Zahora. Thanks to Marie and Melanie for the epic Red Nose Day quiz. Hope we weren't too rowdy. Brilliant few days.
Amazing hailstorm.

We can only agree with this, awful place and we will not stay a day over two months, it's that bad! We definitely won't be coming back next year :winky:

What Marie said is correct, she is only recommending a site that she likes!! we spent a week there at christmas and when we asked Marie about what went on there we were told your adults make your own fun!! and as we did not know a soul we spent a very lonely miserable Christmas, we saw Marie go to meet her friends on christmas day but was not even wished a happy christmas
Our friends had taken thier musical instruments to provide some entertainment and were not given any help to organise anything, so they left after 2 days, when we questioned Marie about this she said she expected them to organise the entertainment!! Suzy and Bryan took pity on us boxing day and took us to a local town, which we thank them for.
The site itself is badly situated and if you only have a motorhome there is no way you can park at the local beaches, you need some other transport, the sandy roads on the site have lots of holes and bumps, it is on the Atlantic coast and gets damp there with the trees etc bambi 2

we spent a very lonely miserable Christmas

Well I started this thread so I must say I'm sorry you did not enjoy yourself.

You've had your say more than once now, so you are obviously quite bitter about the trip. Spring is here, the summer is ahead of you, surely time to put this behind you and think of what to enjoy next.

I suspect now might be the time for planning next Christmas, the sites that are organised with loads of entertainment are probably well booked now. Why don't you start a "Where shall we go next Christmas" thread with what you want out of a site and get doing the research now.

I think the CCC do a good line in holiday camp style Spanish breaks, have a look on there.

I feel the need to say that I never expected it to be like an organised rally and in fact I am pretty sure Marie went to lengths to tell people that was the case.

For us it has been perfect, we've made the effort to get to know some people and done a bit of socialising and we have also spent a lot of time on our own enjoying the peace and quiet.

All staying on the site have been friendly and the staff are helpful and really go out of their way to help where possible.

Armacao de Pera in portugal is a good site, just a short walk to the beach and the town, plus if our friends the travelling Tapps go there again next christmas there would be christmas carols and entertainment there as that is where
they went after Zahora. :Smile:::bigsmile:

Sorry can't help you with the price, we have spent some great christmasses there,::bigsmile: it was not too expensive as I remember, you should be able to find the price on line, make sure that it is the site near the beach as there are 2 there and the other one is quite a treck to the beach and town, sorry can't help more than that as we are just on our way to the ferry at Tangier after spending almost 3 months in Morocco. bambi 2
