Sat at home last night and I thought "let's see what's on the television tonight". After scrolling through the dozens and dozens of Freeview and Freesat channels, the answer was, nothing. There are over a thousand threads, on the Forum about satellite dishes, which Astra satellite to scan for, manual or auto seeking, etc. etc. So what is there to watch on television that justifies spending hundreds, or even thousands, of pounds on a satellite dish and all that goes with it. Is it boys toy syndrome, all this satellite thing, or am I missing something.

PS we don't have and aerial on our Motorhome.

I have to admit of being an emmerdale fan as remember watching it when I was at school and it was emmerdale farm with Annie and jack and joe sugden. Not obsessive though and if I miss it it's not difficult to work out what has gone on!

I quite like things like the davina McCall programme that was on the other night or bear grylls stuff.

You are right though about nothing on ..... I call the TV the box in the corner with 500 programmes of nothing to watch!

We use ours for watching stuff we have downloaded or direct from tv recordings so it's at a time to suit us.
We sometimes watch stuff as it shows, but even then as we can pause, rewind and then fast forward it's rarely watched as it's broadcast.
That's the beauty of modern tvs and associated kit it's there at your convenience.
If I spot an upcoming show or series I set series record, often not watching any of it until the full set is available.

Lin :)

Getting better month by month.
I tend to watch the Capital Radio picture. ;) We don't watch much TV at all and if we do it is a few Sky TV programmes, so when we are away, the TV is used for the Radio to save the Cab Battery.(y)

Absolutely nothing on the telly!!!

We are abroad most of the year so record stuff mostly on Filmon which allows me to record 4 hours at a time before downloading, problem is we only watch about 1 1/2 hrs a night so now have somewhat of a backlog.

The 'nothings to watch' that I have stored:
River, full series
Young Montalbano
Churchill's Secret
One Child
Sea Cities
Sherlock
Royal Cousins at War
Grand Tour of Scotland
American Railway Journeys
Law and Order UK....lots
Timewatch....various
.................. lots more

but of course there is nothing to watch:)

Still can't be a****d messing about with a satellite dish though!

Same as us.
As soon as we get over the channel no more tv till we get back, I will admit I sometimes find a bar with a tv if there's some footy on(y)

All is right in (my) world when Emmerdale and Corrie are on --- switch off brain and therefore the worry button.
Any comedy Mock the Week, Live at the Apollo. On Live at the BBC last night, 2 brilliant stand ups, one a British-Pakistani Muslim who could laugh at himself, the second an American Jew. If the world laughed more, there'd be less strife.
Any good drama but not historical --- Happy Valley, Line of Duty, Last tango in Halifax etc.
NO reality crap or decorating / DIY though I do like George whats his name , Small Spaces guy.
And the Big Bang Theory is my specialist subject on Mastermind.

We have a tv in the motorhome. We don't watch it though. Swmbo has the tv on at home all the time but doesn't watch it. I find it annoying and usually find another room.

Very little. Last thing I watched with any interest was The Last Kingdom.
Mrs A's Mum, who lives with us, watches everything, complains there's nothing on, then continues to watch it.....
Just got rid of Sky ( it was a special off for 12 months, ) now we have Freesat at home but no tv in the van.

Nothing on????

MORNINGS (Obviously not when motorhoming)

Breakfast TV (Choose BBC or ITV depending on who's on)
'The Wright Stuff' (Chan 5), Homes under the Hammer or Victoria Derbyshire, Countryside 999 etc.

About noon time, there's Daily Politics or Bargain Hunt
At 12.30 whizz over to ITV for Loose Women!
1.30 it's ITV News

AFTERNOONS

In the afternoon, there's Escape to the Country, 'Bloke' programmes (like Air Crash Investigation) or black & white war films and of course, the GORGEOUS Rachel Riley on Countdown

That brings us up to 4-ish when it's time for Tipping Point. Following that, there's The Chase. Don't forget 'Neighbours' :D

Then it's time for dinner and the 6 o'clock News.

Settle down for the evening TV and there's shed loads of programmes!!

EVENINGS

Soap fans have Emmerdale, Enders or Corrie, then there's things like Gogglebox, Grantchester, Happy Valley or more highbrow stuff. Plenty of sleaze on Chans 4 or 5 if you like that sort of thing.

Nothing on?? There ain't enough room on the recorder for all of the fantastic stuff and we haven't even started on some of the other channels like Sky Atlantic :D:D:D

Out of the 42 channels i have showing there is always something worth watching.

Teatime favourites are the old ones....in loving memory, on the buses, heartbeat, Last of the summer wine etc
Evenings its....jonathon creek, new tricks etc.
Horror channel figures large but most films are utter shite (basic entertainment)....many exceptions though.
