Hit a yacht this morning,we are off the French coast and it is foggy. I was still in bed and the foghorn started blaring ,I felt the boat turning and slowing down. Didn’t know what was going on and was told by another passenger.

So was that through the Channel du Four which they had special permission to use, cuts time and makes for a smoother passage, I hope not or the French will stop it!

The boat has went between the French mainland and Ushant, there was a bit of a bump but what I was told was the yacht scuffed along the length of the boat.

They do drop to 16kts through there, but collision in fog puts both parties responsible, although I bet the yacht did not have radar, but should at least had a reflector which would have thrown up a major target on the Avens radar. Trouble is yachties tend not to employ electronic aids, like transponders which would have eliminated any risk.
