Our journey has to start somewhere and what better place. My wife and are planning to tour Europe in a motor home. We don't yet own one and not sure where to start there appear to be so many styles. We want one big enough to sleep 4 in comfort with the option of 6 if necessary. We want to tow a small car. Other than that fairly open to suggestions although I suspect we will soon start narrowing down the options. Any advice greatfully received. Thanks Tony

"tow a small car"? wow that would have been a great first post if you had mentioned "A frames"

Welcome Tony and family, one thing for sure this is a great place to start but you will need to subscribe to get the best out of us.

Have you got a licence to drive over 3500kg? I have no doubt you and your wife can share a bed but what about the other two?

Hello and welcome. Loads of advice to be had on here but perhaps need to narrow it down a bit to get sensible answers. Like budget, type of camping you want to do, why you anticipate needing a car etc.

:welco: You are right - so many makes/layouts and budgets. Have a good read through as much of the forum as you can so you've at least got a bit of an idea what you might be interested in:)

But as already mentioned - a yearly subscription is well worth it & will give you access to the full site, plus member discounts.

Have fun looking for your future mh:)

Welcome. I reckon you need to a few threads. Which motorhome should i buy ? Do i need to tow a car ? Would a motorbike be better ?
We have just bought a brand new 6 berth with garage that takes a motorbike inside the van and still comes in under 3.5 at around your proposed budget. Rollerteam 690.
You may also want to consider the merits of a 4 berth with a safari awning which you could go onto campsites with or a 5th wheeler to cover the vehicle side of things or just go for the caravan as pointed out previously.
Good luck and loads of advice incoming

If you are wanting to take a car with you - have you thought about simply buying a caravan?
A caravan doesn't work quite the same as a motorhome in countries like France with the Aires.
Aires are not for caravans only motorhomes!:)

Hi and welcome to FUN, but why tow a car unless you need it for mobility, you can hire a car as and when you need one. I always get shoot down for saying if you tow a car why not buy a caravan but each to his or her own. (y)
