I bought a replacement water filter. Pozzani GS10J. The instructions are ambiguous. Has anyone replaced this cartridge and can shed light? In the first photo you can see the plastic supply pipe is attached by a jubilee clip to a black plastic fitting that I believe would have been supplied by Pozzani as it seems to screw into the cartridge. The second photo shows the replacement, which has a silver foil cap stuck to the inlet and also a red locking clip. If I unscrew the black plastic fitting from the old cartridge how do I fit it to the new cartridge? Remove foil cap and the locking clip? Then attempt to insert the black fitting? The instructions talk about push fit. So push fit the black fitting then tighten with spanner? I'm sure it's all dead simple when you've done it once.....

I looks to me that the two ends (old and new) that you show in the pics are opposites. The old shows a male spigot coming out of the filter (black) that then has a female push fitting fitted to it. The new filter has a peel off silver seal, which then show a male push fit socket.
Whats the other ends of the filters like?
Pic?
Direction of flow arrow?

No, both photos are showing the same end. The other end looks pretty much the same, in terms of the black fitting. The photo shows the inlet end, but as I say both black fittings look identical, although it's hard to get a good look. Are you saying that the black fitting has a male and a female part that are pushed together?

part 1 in the pic, to me, looks like a screwed in to a thread that is in the bottom of the filter, that has PTFE tape on it. That gives you a male spigot (pipe) sticking down for you to push the female socket that is on the end of the pipe.
On the new filter, under the foil seal, is just a female push fitting, with red locking collar that is designed for you to shove a much smaller pipe into. Not a thread , or male spigot like your old one.

Right, so I may have bought the wrong cartridge. They did tell me they are universal......
I'll have to take it all apart to see exactly what's what. I was hoping I could work out how it works before starting. No matter. Will have a go at it tomorrow and report back. Thanks for your help so far, Landy Andy

Yup. Looks like I bought the wrong cartridge. Will call them on Monday to re-order. Photos below for interest. I may also go a different route rather than re-order. I believe there are some filters that do rather more than just remove funny tastes and odours, which is all these do. Shout-out to Landy Andy for being the only person interested enough in this monumentally boring thread to offer any help.

On your last photo those two parts come apart if you push them together, then pull down the locking ring, then pull the two items apart. 👍🏻👍🏻

Yeah, I could feel some movement but wasn't sure how to separate them. Cheers.
