The great LPG famine (1 Viewer)

No LPG at Trago Newton Abbot or the Texaco at the top of Haldon Hill on the A38 near Exeter but, good news, the Texaco at the top of Telegraph Hill on the A380 had Autogas this morning when I filled up.

I don't bother about social standing; I'm quite comfortable with the prone position in the gutter [as long as it's not raining] ...

I need to go on a quest for mine soon. Both local fill ups have stopped doing it, and last year I stopped off on the way on the M1 on the way to the tunnel. (Can’t see that happening this year)

oh well, the van needs a run out.

Just phoned another local Supplier of Bottled Gas in Fife: 'We have just sold the last 6Kg bottle, and won't get another delivery until sometime next week. We have no idea what the delivery will be until it arrives. Sometimes we get no delivery of certain weights of gas bottle. Calor Gas is struggling to get the metal to manufacture new bottles [but they don't want them back ...], because of Brexit ...' The local Caravan Dealer told the same story last week re metal shortages that has resulted in Swift having 1600 caravans ready to deliver [once they can obtain the metal for 6400 corner leg steadies ...].

Cue music for 'Brave New World' ...

Sod the ciggies and booze Duty Free Allowance. Next trip to Europe will involve bringing back a gas bottle or two [have Spanish Regulator on a bottle at our French hovel plus a spare Regulator in Scotland]. 'Have Regulator, will travel' style of thing ...

£0.52.7p/litre

Diesel good price too £1.26.7p

Filled with lpg (fill point inside locker) & diesel in same lane after asking attendatnt if I had to pay seperately. No problem, says he, pay for them both together

Could t get any lpg in Southampton today , any one know of any local sources , is this an on going thing or a blip in supply . Off to Cornwall in two weeks so hopefully there will be some on the way

If you’re coming from Southampton, could try Esso garage at Cat ‘n‘Fiddle, Hinton on way to Xchurch. Filled up there approximately 2 weeks back.

All this talk of LPG shortages got me worried. I was passing the filling station on the A1 just before Berwick which has a reasonably accessible LPG pump around the side. Stopped off and filled the underslung tank then thought I should fill the two Gaslow bottles which I have never used for sometime and intended to sell. Total amount of gas was 205L. Had to go straight home as I had no money left for diesel. Should see us over the shortage
Still got a garage full of toilet roll

As of today, the ONLY Sainsburys filling station in the entire UK with LPG in stock is the one on Brighton

Turn right at 1st roundabout.

Looks like Sainsburys now have a supply of LPG.

Sainsburys on the A2 by the O2/Blackwall tunnel are now operational again (for the first time in several weeks)
I guess the rest of the stations will follow over the next few days

Trago Mills, whilst a Shell garage, sells Flogas LPG So continues to stock LPG even though Shell is discontinuing LPG though they don’t currently have any due to a problem at the depot according to the staff. I don’t know if Texaco get theirs elsewhere but both their garages at Halton and Telergraph hills are showing as having stock according to FillLPG but only the Telegraph hill side had stock this morning.

I bought a gas bottle filling kit from Finland of eBay with it you can fill any bottles from the pump you just put double double the amount of litres to the kg size of the bottle you are filling ie 11kg = 22 litres.The kit contains fittings for all over Europe.

Not always working but worth a try if travelling west. On the other side the garage at the top of Haldon Hill (opposite Exeter Racecourse is pretty reliable. If you are using the coast road to go west (A35) the garage in Offwell just before you get to Honiton nearly always has gas but I'm talking refillables and not exchanging bottles.

not sure too many garage forecourts will let you do that if they see you….not the safest of ways to fill your gas bottles, but only saying.

Our local Asda in Derby also has LPG, same price and service too.

buy a safe fill bottle and fill up at Morrisons or any other lpg garage best thing I did last year

But that plan will only work if bottle completely empty, and i assume no 80% safety fill.

However their Shell Diesel is 6p per litre cheaper than the local Tesco this morning when I filled the car up!
