A first question I would like an opinion on is Breakdown cover. Whose cover do you think meets the needs of the motor home the best.

Sorry if this question has been asked before.

Firstly

Secondly, we have Mayday (Green Flag) via the Caravan Club which not only covers the MH but our car & daughter & son's car as well. We've been with them for years as they were the only breakdown that would cover an 8m caravan (when we were tuggers).

We have our breakdown insurance with our bank account Nationwide plus. £10 a month for all cars and holiday insurance :)

There are some good and smart suggestions there. I like the idea of being able to cover a second vehicle too.

I have recently opened an account with Nationwide, I have holiday cover but don't think I took up the plus cover as my own car is covered by the makers warranty with roadside assist. This I will look into.

I take it Comfort is an MH insurance specialist. another good option if Breakdown can be inclusive.

I will let you know what I do :)

as regards to the van.............................................we have decided to call her Dotty and we intend having maximum fun.

Just joined the CC this morning and I will wait for their paperwork to come through. I feel that as a green behind the ears beginner, they may give me access to a few facilities and services I may need and I will certainly obtain an insurance quote from them.

By the way, you are all very friendly................ many thanks for the tips so far. :)

Welcome to the lunatic asylum that is motorhoming ! :)

Whilst I am sure there are a good many folk who enjoy membership of the CC we quickly found out it was not for us.
FAR FAR too regimented and often not terribly helpful ( sorry ! )

I would suggest you look at BritStops and or Camping and Caravan Club.. But if like us you quickly find the UK a bit restrictive and venture further afield look at ACSI membership

What ever insurance you go for do check they can deal with the size of vehicle you have.
For us, although not cheap, ADAC ticks all the boxes very nicely

We prefer the CC to the C&CC. The only way to tell is join and see what you think. It is not a fortune to join these clubs and see which one suites. :)

We mostly prefer the CL's than the club sites, often better views, usually more space between pitches and much less regimented.
Enjoy your trips :)

Hello Welcome to Fun, if you are pondering on any thing the search at the top is really helpful, you could have put CC & CCC in and got information on both, same with insurance, there is so much information available at your finger tips, and of course keep the questions coming.

Hi there. We like the Caravan Clubs certified locations. Did when we were tuggers and still do as Motorhomers. I hope you get the maximum amount of fun from your Dotty.:D
