I've just applied for a chase debit card, they seem to get really good reviews. Apart from a right faff around trying to get it to accept my passport photo and selfie, its now on my phone and the card is on its way to me.

Lots of good features like 1% cashback for the first year, 5% interest with round ups, no fees for debit card use abroad and 3% on savings.

Anyone else got one, any pro's or cons that you've found since you've started using it?

Yes
Pro's the interest, the auto top ups.
Con's, low contactless limits, slightly odd app layout and completely blank card.

Pro's very responsive customer service
Con's requirement to deposit £500/mth [after first year for existing customers]

Thanks, wasn't aware of the £500 pcm thing after the first year, must have missed that, is it on their info page?
Won't be a problem though as I shall be using it regularly instead of my current bank debit card, keeping it topped up.

Agree about the slightly odd layout, took me a while to realise how to properly log out of the app but getting used to it.

I Need something new, Santander is getting steadily worse, good job I'm not solely relying on them

From Moneysavingexpert.com
If you've been a Chase customer for more than a year:
  • You'll continue to get 1% cashback on purchases until April – Chase plans to communicate the exact date this change will happen in late March. But from this date, 1% cashback on purchases will be capped at £15 a month AND you'll need to deposit £500 a month into the account to get it. This deposit does not include transferring money from Chase's linked savings account into the current account. To earn the maximum £15 a month cashback you'll need to spend £1,500 a month.
If you sign-up to Chase between now and 1 May 2023:
  • You'll get the current offer of 1% unlimited cashback on purchases for 12 months with no deposit required. After a year, you'll be rolled onto the new system above.

I thought the £500 a month thing was to keep your 1% cash back on your spending.
Iv had one for a year and very happy with it.
It also has a half decent easy access interest rate .

I’ve had a chase account for nearly a year. I have been quite impressed with most of the service they provide.
Looking at my recent emails it says the £500 paid into your account is so you keep the 1% cashback on purchases. They give a good interest rate for savings and update it regularly to try and keep up with the competition.
Easy enough to see the card details on the app and probably geared towards the modern app using mobile phone user. Just a different way of banking these days.

I've had an account with them for about 9 months, and had no issues with them.

Pro: reasonable interest rate on savings accounts - certainly better than my other two (HSBC & Santander).
Con: The latest incarnation of the App is more clunky and awkward to use than previous releases.

Santander has the best esaver savings account out there - 3.2% 🙌

Can it be operated from a laptop, which is how I do all my financial stuff even when away in the MH - just tether to phone.

Looking on the website you can’t login, just requests you ‘get the app’

I think the current day rate is applied at the time of transaction. Appears on the account almost instantly.

Also, all transactions are messaged to the phone, could be very useful if card is lost or stolen and you are unaware.

I Make Schoolboy Errors!
Been using Chase for about a month, alongside another bank account. Am now effectively spending all my cash type purchases on the debit card to get the 1% cashback, can't see anything else as good from anyone. If after a year £500 or so has to be paid in to keep the cashback, so be it, easy enough to set up a standing order from the other bank account which gets all my income anyway. It may seem a bit of a faff to run two accounts (well actually 3 since I also have the Chase ready access savings thingy), but it works as other account has all the must be paid direct debit type things, leaving Chase as the slush fund I fritter away. If I were to spend enough in a month for £15 cashback, I'd be getting near bankruptcy so not currently a limit that worries me, and even so it's still a better reward than elsewhere.

Slight pain the Chase account is a smartphone app only. Not even a computer login option. The app seems to work OK, on Samsung Android, just a pain that virtually every touch needs to be authenticated with fingerprint again (but at least not as bad as the other account that wants to scan my face, and then can't). They make a big thing in ads that the debit card doesn't have numbers and stuff, but it is a bit of a faff when trying online shopping to have to keep cutting back and forth between the shop and Chase to copy over the necessary numbers. Possibly could go down the google pay type routes but that is a step too far at the moment.

I do like the linked savings account. Transfers are instant between the Chase Current and Chase Savings. Savings can't accept payments from outside the Chase system. As it's easy to move money, albeit it's another thing to watch, the savings account can be maximised. As the rate increases to 3.1% APR in very early April, it's staying competitive.

That the card can be used abroad, without fees other than exchange is great, and apparently that will also qualify for cashback.

You need to become a card tart. But need to be organised at present I'm moving money around 5 accounts, and I have the trickle account which is the one all the cash goes through and is never closed. It always a surprise after a few years that it gets checked and there's a few 1000 in there as I always put a few £ more in than is needed by DD or SO, at one stage a bank was paying me £5 monthly for having 3 DD going out one was £1.25 the other £1.10 and £1.50 and believe it or not one was the car tax I pay monthly 😀

Just had an email update from them, wef 26 Apr you will now get 1% interest on your current account. Calculated daily and added to the account at the beginning of the following month. Happy with that. 😊

A better return is to get a long term 0% credit card and use that to pay for stuff then put the money you'd have paid your Chase debit card off with into 3%+ savings account.
