Hornfleur was “interesting” last night but nothing compared to minehead beach when the storm hit in November :-) . Plan to move inland a little to Montreuil Sur Mer today getting closer to the tunnel - not looking for ward to the drive mind

Last time we were abroad and had to drive in that wind scared me to death. Especially going over those high bridges. We had to drive along a causeway which nearly took off our skylight as the winds were hitting us sideways. No place to stop along the way. Trailers were blown into the fields. We managed to get to the aire but had to face the engine into the wind. This is going to be bad as well according to the fore casters. Keep safe.

It’s blowing hard in Bridlington, van been rocking all night and it’s set to get stronger. Hope it’s died down by tomorrow when we have to drive home

We had a windy night on Friday at John O'Groats and knew that it was no place to ride out Storm Ciara!

So we set off at 8am in search of a sheltered, east-facing harbour.

Lybster had good shelter behind a green container but the water was almost level with the quay and waves were splashing heavily against the rocks. The storm wasn't due for another 4 hours, so we moved on.

Latheron Wheel had reasonable shelter and was further from the water but we felt isolated and with the possibility of snow we didn't want to be at the bottom of that hill.

Helmsdale was a no-no, as you park right on the edge of the promenade, so we bit the bullet and hurtled down to Inverness and along to Buckie, where we are camped at Sunnybrae Cottage. A degree of shelter, water, dump and EHU for £12. So we sat out the first round of winds from 4pm to 8pm on Saturday and had a calm night. The wind is starting to rise again but we have the electric heating set to 25degC, views across the Moray Forth and WiFi thrown in as well. (y)

Windy in Cheshire and raining, couple of plant pots blown over but that's all. The wind is a bit blustery. Not ventured out yet, lol.

Keep those skylights battened-down!
I'd avoid travelling in the rain - I lost a wiper in a gale once. They're not cheap to replace an it's difficult to continue with just one!

Must be quite bad around the Humber as the Bridge is closed for the first time in its history because of weather, so bear in mind if going that way

The original forecast for today on the BBC weather page showed 85mph winds for my area.
I looked that up, and according to the Beaufort scale that's a hurricane!

They have since downgraded it to 70 mph winds from the South West.

Now awaiting the heavy snow.

Fecking weather!

Bee hive on my roof has had its roof blown off. Luckily that hive was empty and my 2 full ones are better protected.
Not overly keen to get back for my last night shift to find a few trees down on the estate.
