It was mentioned by someone on one of the other 'three' threads that they use a way round this, but I can't remember which one!

Just played with (PM me) although in the UK it is not conclusive, however I downloaded to the pc a good chunk but my tethering balance remained the same in my account. Will have a look again tomorrow.

Since 2008 & many years tugging
Foxfi no longer works with Three I tried all the different apps.

Trick is after Three block after about 30 min change networks and you get anther 30 min.

Because people want to use the unlimited data on their phone sim. If you put a phone sim in a mifi dongle it wont work.
Not much help as a three sim is being used but a giffgaff payg works ok if you use cash credit instead of a bundle....but that's in the UK, don't know if it works elsewhere.

I've tethered a MacBook to an Android smartphone. Can't recall the exact details but it wasn't difficult. Should be some guides out there on Google.

Can't say I use the facility much though.

That will only work if the provider of the phone sim (and/or contract) allows tethering which a lot don't unfortunately.

I've just checked our Tesco Mobile sim terms and as we have inclusive data as standard we are allowed to tether:

Unfortunately using it abroad costs 4p mb.

Still can't understand why anyone would take an unlimited data contract out on a phone sim that can't be tethered from legally and only delivers a basic 2g service abroad.

Do people really do that?

Some people only want to use it in their phone of phablet so not bothered, and many won't use it abroad either.
