I was waiting until RIM brings out the new Blackberries.

However your posts have piqued my interest and I am starting to consider a Note 2 instead.

Would you recommend it JJ?

The Galaxy range in general is pretty good. Jill has a Galaxy Y phone (low end) and we both like our Galaxy Tabs.

An interesting innovation I saw yesterday on the web is the Asus Padfone 2, not available here yet but may be later this year. I've no idea how good the device is/are but the fact that the phone docks with the tablet obviates the requirement for data synchronisation so it may well be a way in which manufacturers go in future.

I have seen the padfone and it is not really what I want.

I did consider the Galaxy S3 but ruled it out because it was touch screen. The only reason I am considering the Note 2 is because of the stylus. I can't get on with touch screens for entering text and prefer my physical keyboard on the blackberry. However a large screen is useful for my job. With the stylus I could tap type more accurately so I may be able to get by with it.

Hmmmm, decisions decisions.

I will look forward to further reports JJ. I trust your judgement :thumb:

Solving stuff bit by bit but stuck on uploading photos on here by attachment.

When I get to "choose image" nothing happens. Is this me or an Android thing or a problem with the Fun site?

Anyone know?

I have tried to add an attachment from my tablet and when I click on the select file button in the manage attacments section nothing happens. It does not open a file manager type window to select the required file.

I assume this is what happens with JJ.

JJ you need an app called "Reduce Photo Size" available from the app store. This will enable you to do exactly what you want.

Gonna look at the note when I get over to Gib .. Love the Galaxy I currently have ( and have had for the past 2 years ) but the new Note looks to be the next step for me !

l am taking sometime to get used to it but the pen is amazing and it is weird to do handwriting and have it appear as typed text...

Mountains of stuff to master though!

It is not a trivial exercise and documentation is not good, well not for any Android device I've bought. Thank goodness for the Internet.

A few months ago there was a thread on Best Android Apps which might help.

One of my favourites is Fuel Log, the simplest quickest way of keeping track of fuel used to show long term mpg. There's Kindle of course. GPS Speed lets you calibrate your speedo. K9 Mail works just like my PC mail. NavFree is a good GPS navigator.

What's it like as an actual phone JJ?

I know that sounds daft but the iPhone 3 I used to have was rubbish for making and receiving calls and I don't think it was all down to Vodafone either.

I am going to move away from Apple stuff so might make a Samsung my next phone.

.Hi Chris, I find the phone fine but I have only made calls over skype so far.

It is a lot bigger than usual phones though.

I found l was using my old phone for internet browsing more than for phone calls and texts and this Note 2 is much better for that with its big screen...

Lots of new things to get used to.

Thanks JJ.

I have found since I got an iPad that I only really now use my phone for making calls so I might just go for a basic cheaper phone.
