We have nexus 7s and always use them as sat navs, no problems at all, use them all over Europe, never been lost yet(y)

If you have the fiat based van that has the dashboard thingy that lifts up in the middle, you can get one of the tablet cases that open like a book and it clips under the paper clip thing, and it stays there quite happily.

Just had this in an email shot

Does the Hudl 1 have gps, Tesco are selling refurb units for £69 and you can double up clubcard vouchers to buy it.

They are still clearing out new Hudl 1's @£79 by all accounts.

I would seriously advise that you look at ncrowd reviews before buying this. !

son researching these devices for travelling (backpacking) says Hudl has poor battery life. quess you can have it plugged in while using in van though...

any advice from the more knowledgeable on here for a decent one with plenty of memory and battery life, a chinese one would do.....Going on a 5 month backpacking trip around south America, have told him not to bring anything he values...

Advice taken, sorry about that, I have never dealt with them and it was the first I had heard of them , it just came on an unsolicited email and thought it fitted the thread but as you say , avoid.
