I hope someone can point me in the correct direct regarding the terrestrial aerial and how it works.

I have tried to get the tv working using the aerial in the pics and the various outlet points but to no avail.

The tv has various inputs i.e. digital, terrestrial then sat etc.
The digital option seems to give me options for different channel suppliers mainly foreign?
Selecting the terrestrial option gives me no options of suppliers.

Neither will tune in and give me any channels.
I tried to get a picture on both terrestrial and digital but nothing doing.

Ive now run out of ideas :(

IMG_3393.JPG

Booster I guess and I had it turned on and it lit up

IMG_3395.JPG

Outlet by the tv I have tried a fly lead from the tv outlet to the tv
There is another lead appearing from from maybe the external tv inlet point.

IMG_3394.JPG

This is the aerial it can be tilted where it meets the pole and rotated I presume to get a better signal.

Sorry for the long post bit it appears I need help please :)

Should have said all was fitted in 2006 on a Rapido A Class

You usually have to tune your tv in each time you stop. On digital look for the menu, set up then scan.

Which tv do you have?

what is happening when you try and tune in your channels ??
normally I select tv setup on remote and then scroll to auto tune
you will get a display showing how many channels have been picked up.. if its not registering any your aerial most probably isn't picking anything...
my amplifier unit has a signal strength indicator light on it.... I try and get that to as dark a green as I can by extending the aerial to its max if necessary and altering it vertically or horizontally until the light goes green..
then it usually tunes in a fair few channels..

Unfortunately my booster just shows a red light for on.

I tried scanning several times and no channels were tuned/detected at all.

@irnbru as above lots of scanning but no joy

Should have said I tried rotating the aerial but no difference

That would indicate that your aerial isn't picking anything up...
( providing All other things like cabling working correctly )
Without any indication of signal strength and aerial orientation all I can think of is to download an app to give you a clue about direction or check to see what others around are doing..

Here's a picture of the amplifier unit I'm on about. . The colour of the light gives you a good idea of signal strength..
I find that very handy..

We have exactly the same set up as you and rarely fail to pick up a signal.
Make sure that the aerial in connection actually goes to the aerial and not the tv point - they are interchangeable.
When you rotate the aerial raise it as high as possible first and then only rotate it around 10 degrees at a time .Easier still check the direction of other vans or house aerials around you.
Might also be worth bypassing the tv point temporarily and ( if your cable is long enough) plugging the tv directly into the booster in case there is a broken connection .
Lastly if you have a meter check the cable ,used to connect to the tv, for continuity.

Yes I checked that and the pic in my post shows it as it should be.

That crossed my mind a few minutes ago, Im disappointed in myself for not trying that.

Unfortunately nothing in the area where she's stored but I could always check general direction with a compass.
Does the pointy bit of the aerial go in the transmitter direction?

Yep all good

See if you can look at someones aerial around you to give you an indication of whether it should be positioned Vertical or horizontal., or download a tv signal app to show you which way to point aerial.

Make sure your tv source is set at digital.

If you use terrestrial at home take the van TV & plug it into your domestic set-up. Do you have the Instruction Manual for the TV? I find it hard to believe it won't have a terrestrial tuner unless it is pretty old.

Stick a Freeview Dish on the roof. We use a MegaSat works really well. Automatically finds the Astra Satalite and you don't have to retune the Tv every time you want to use it.

There is no analog Tv transmissions anymore and they increased the power on the digital signal.

There is no terrestrial tv in the UK anymore, it’s either digital through an aerial as in freeview or digital though a dish as in sky. Either way you are going to need a built in tuner in your tv or a separate tuner.

Download a map at home, from google showing the main and local transmitters, in the whole of the UK, then work out where you are and the direction to point the aerial and whether or not the transmitter is vertical or horizontal. turn you aerial to the correct way and then scan using the seeking program. Took me a long time to work that one out. I have an external aerial pole with two aerials on it one for each polarity just plug the correct lead into the box on the side that is connected to the set.

I don't remember the details but somewhere within the settings menu, you may need to set the aerial to 'Active'.

You maybe already know but the aerial MUST point ACCURATELY at the transmitter mast AND be in correct plane...VERTICALLY or HORIZONTALLY.
A few degrees off either way and you won't get a signal....the wrong polarity (plane) and you may get some channels but will be poor quality.
The now defunct analogue signal wasn't so fussy, somewhere near would still work
