For as long as I can remember when leaving a pitch for the day I have used a marker with our Reg. on and left a rubber mat where the door is making it easy to line up. Came back this afternoon and some lowlife has pinched my mat! Bit annoyed to say the least.

Most likely a tenter saw it and envious of your fine motorhome, lobbed it away.

We used a step to get in and out of the hab door on one of our previous MH's, went to go out of the hab door one morning and the step had been nicked.
