We had this a few times on last van but today we've had it quite a few times.

Travelling at about 55-60mph and get buffered by side wind or passing vehicle on UK near side the front right wheel seems to lock and the TCS light flashes then all ok. Van drives fine no other errors, bit of goofing and it says could be faulty wheel sensor or TCS brain, thought maybe dirt as we've had rain but its dry now.

Any ideas or advice please.

Maybe get under there with a pressure washer, that would clear any muck. Tyre pressures checked? (These are just first thoughts - no actual facts!)

Just had same conversation with MrsMichaelT . Will give it a jet wash when I get to cleaning the van.

We had a similar problem after getting of a ferry that vibrated a lot as it was turning around before docking, driving up the hill out of Dieppe a warning message came up, abs, hill decent and traction control not available, the same message came up once after hitting a pothole. Turning the engine off didn't clear it but strangely the next day when starting the message had gone.

Do you have this fitted to your van?

Cross Wind Assist: Helps counteract strong crosswinds, integrated into the ESC system.
Trailer Stability Control (TSC): Senses trailer sway and automatically manages engine power and braking to stabilize the vehicle and trailer.

I'm not sure but doubt it but its something like that happening. I'm hoping a good jet was will clean any crap out if not I'll look for a Fiat garage to run the diagnostic, I'm on warranty so should be ok. It was fine this afternoon after posting this but not so windy.

It looks like ivorantony is on the right path it seems"its supposed to do that sir."

I think it will be the stability control, and not solved by a good wash.

It's certainly seems the same problem thank you. We don't have lane assist but it's strange it's happening here same as reported but it's been ok at home. Maybe cos we are driving on wrong side of road it thinks we are swerving to outside lane.

I will try with indicators when overtaking see if it helps but that won't help with a gust of crosswind.

On a recent trip through Spain we had two occasions when passing other vehicles where there was a grabbing sensation and the cruise control dropped out. It didn't seem particularly windy.
I presumed it was caused by a mixture of the other vehicles 'bow wave' and/or a cross wind.
I wasn't aware that we had Cross Wind Assist until that point.
