Just taxing for another year - fished out the reminder and typed the suggested online link [www.gov.uk/vehicle-tax ] and clicked on the first reply on google - thinking it would be the Gov tax site .. it looked different and said in small print at bottom of form 'not affiliated with UK Government' - thought I had clicked on wrong link but there were no other Gov links on that page. Just some stuff about re -applying for licence after ban etc .
Typed link in again - got same page . Typed car tax uk and got to the correct link first time .. wondering if there is some new scam about ? As no idea what was going on there !

Google will always give you paid for Ad results first no matter what you type in. I always look much further down the page.
I also have Norton internet security on ipad and laptop and that prevents me opening the Ad links.

Seem to be more scams around than ever. I had a message on the phone today telling me I am eligible for a discounted energy bill…….guess what there was an attachment that doubtless asked for my bank details, needless to say I didn’t open it.

Be careful!

A few years.
Sort of a scam, yes they do get a vehicle taxed but act as an agent and charge for it!

my issue was I typed the correct address ie the one on the reminder - and google did not give me the correct link on the first second or third page ! I assumed somehow the link had been hacked - we have always paid o n line - 3 x a year [3 vehicles ]:unsure:- this has never happened before

I've just clicked on the link you've given and it took me to the correct page.

I have been aware of these "agencies" for a couple of years, they take your details, pass them onto The DVLA,VOSA you get the vehicle taxed, but they charge you I think £35 admin charge for doing so.:swear:
I didnt fall for it luckily, but how any "Agency" is allowed to use The DVLA website address, or even one similar is beyond me, surely they can & should be shut down.
I always use the web address on the Reminder Form, but also make sure its a secure site HTTPS with the padlock, then type in your Reference number given on the reminder.
Good luck, stay safe everyone.

They are sites you can use to tax vehicles but then you have to pay them a fee ,its in the small print. Just use the Govt sites only ,none with an "and" against them as the first ones on Google are pay fee ones.
