Please can someone with absolute factual knowledge, confirm that a dog that's been in the Irish Republic for week & having departed from the U.K., either does or does not require the above treatment prior to re-entering the U.K.
We seem to recall our Irish vet in Wales stating the dog does needs the treatment, but even GOV.UK website & Trip Savvy contradicts this ? & now we are confused.
Trip Savvy :
Tapeworm treatment Just before you enter the UK, your dog must be treated against tapeworm. This must be done not more than 120 hours (5 days) before entering the UK and not less than 24 hours. This treatment must be carried out by a licensed vet every time your pet enters the UK. If your dog does not have this treatment during the required period, it can be refused entry and placed into a 4 month quarantine. Dogs entering the UK from Finland, Ireland, Malta and Norway do not have to be treated for tapeworm.
GOV.UK :
Tapeworm treatment for dogs
A vet must treat your dog for tapeworm and record it in the pet passport or third-country official veterinary certificate every time you want to bring it to the UK.
The treatment must have been given no less than 24 hours and no more than 120 hours (5 days) before you enter the UK. Your dog can be refused entry or put into quarantine if you don’t follow this rule.
You don’t need to treat your dog for tapeworm if you’re coming directly to the UK from Finland, Ireland, Malta or Norway.
Thank you in advance for all constructive replies
