So it was all working fine until a very cold night (about -3c) and then I noticed my fresh water tank level seemed really low in morning. Now my first thought was freezing and leaking pipe. But ive looked as best I can and do see any leaks that are obvious.

Yet if I fill the tank until it overflows as full, the level shows 48%, always 48%, has been for 2-3 weeks now.

Any ideas?

Hmmm - not quite sure which bit is the problem. I'd have thought some more research and crossing things off required. If you can get access to actually see the tank level - rather than the gauge, that might be significant. If the guage is lieing then maybe fully emptying and refilling it might help the sensor. If it's a float type it could need removing and cleaning or replacing.

If the water really is escaping then it could be the freezer guard on the boiler - if you have one.

On my water check meter you can recalibrate the amount showing ,but you have to take the panel off and adjust the meter with a small screwdriver.

Try cleaning the prongs in the fresh water tank with a sponge type scourer. Sometimes this helps.

When my FW gauge starts playing up I just add 500gm of food grade citric acid and brim the tank then leave for a couple of hours. This dissolves the build on the prongs. Couple of rinses of tank full and all ok afterwards.
Make sure to use foodgrade citric acid.

Don't forget downward pointing "prong" types read in a tricky way. The tank will show empty until the water reaches the longest prong. That stays the reading until it reaches the next prong, etc. Etc.
Best to think of the display as showing "At least <whatever it shows>" rather than an absolute reading. Here's a little pic I did last weekend to explain to the Memsahib...

Thanks, sadly due to disabilities there's no way I can access the tanks under the van, so if it came to it id have no choice but pay for someone to work on them :(

On a brighter note, after 3wks of showing 48%, it randomly corrected itself to 100% today, very random!
