The vet didn't tell me anything that's the problem .
The person checking passport pointed it out when I went to book in
The Spanish
rabies only lasts 12 months so expired on 02/04/19

The UK one lasts 3 years apparently

But the vet obviously didn't check the passport before he stamped and signed it as safe to travel

Well, that’s not very good is it! Bit of a bummer really.
But it’s a useful reminder to the rest of us to check these things time and time again!
Sorry you’ve been let down by that vet, guess he was having a bad day.

Don't think this vet is to far from you. All went as it should for us when we had Margo checked/wormed etc before returning to UK in September. Vet didn't speak any English but the friendly receptionist spoke well and came in and translated for us. We rang at 9am on the Monday morning and had appointment 2 hours later,
Perfect only 12 miles I'll phone in the morning

No it's not great, not sure if worthwhile phoning them and complaining tomorrow because really they should have checked info on passport before doing anything

If he had I'd still have to wait 21 days but would have been 18 now and I wouldn't have wasted €46 ?
But probably a waste of time

Same vet I had used last year for jade

Be sure to leave a review Tam, might try it out ourselves one day.
Aye I will do ...It's a bit noisy but needs must, church bells every 30 minutes , scrambler bikes , skateboards , balls lol ...be quiet at night I'd imagine.

Great for services though, I've downloaded a couple of films for tonight too lol

Tam not all UK jabs are for 3 years, you can get them for 2 years. You need to check with vet before jab what the options are.

I get the feeling that the rabies injections are all the same, it is just that different countries/areas believe they have a higher/lower risk of infection therefore endeavour to ensure that domestic animals have a higher level of antibodies. Hence Andalusian dogs have an annual injection due to the close proximity of the N.African coast and the risk of contamination from livestock/vermin being brought across on boats and ferries.
UK are somewhat more complacent as there is a very low incidence of rabies in the UK.
Being as I am somewhat obsessive about my dogs, I am very aware at all times that their passports must comply with the various regulations.
Having said that only a few hours ago I learnt (via an advertising newsletter from my Spanish motor insurance company), that not only does Spain have a list of"dangerous dog" breeds that require one to obtain a special license to keep, but if your dog weighs over 20kgs it too requires a special license. Hmmm.

Rabies vaccine is valid for three years in France now too, as of a recent change, so make sure vet gets the expiry date right.

Tam, Northernraider . I used The vets at 139 Boulevard Curie, 62100 CALAIS (+33 321 821 511 a few years ago when my local vet put the wrong date in Brandy's passport. I didn't realise anything was wrong until I went to check-in. I was given a list of local vets and picked that one at random. I phoned my vet and they, at 19:30, faxed something to the Calais vet and they were then happy to stamp the passport, and charge me 20€ for the privilege.

So here's the few pics I've taken the last few days through France, not many but I didn't have enough data to upload before.
Theres a wee takeaway behind this aire does chips and the smell is driving me mad. But I don't have a single euro in cash as I thought I was going home today so I spent all the cash I had left yesterday buying diesel ,walking boots and a couple of jumpers .

I don't want to use a Visa for a poke of chips even if it is France lol

The 'passport ' for both Jade & Milo is Spanish .The requirement for Spain is that the all dogs ,cats, & ferrets must have yearly vaccinations & rabies jabs .
The drontal worming, you have just had done for the Uk return is also a legal requirement to be done every 3 months in Spain & should be signed, stamped & dated in their veterinary books , normally green for Murcia, & the only one that goes in the passport should be the one for when returning to the UK as otherwise the passport will be full inside 2 years. That is what I do.

You cannot have a 3 year rabies date in a spanish passport if the person inspecting knows there job.It has to be every 12 months
In spain I pay 18€ for the annual vaccinations & around the same for the rabies. 3€ for the drontal when the vet does it & signs but on the occasions when I do it like now when not in spain I just tell them on my return & they date & stamp it free.

Our dog has a Spanish passport and yes the Rabies is one year, we had her done in Portugal and its three years the same as the UK, our Spanish vet said that's a good idea, because it's the same injection. ? Bob.

So we have been to the vet and got the injection and passport filled in. €36 so bot too bad , jade was her usual excitable self giving everyone cuddles and then the vet stabbed her and she started screaming in this yelping I've never heard before ....the poor girl

I'll have to take her to vet when home too as she needs her other vaccinations updated too.

I love the old French timbered houses and the cobbled streets,I think they look lovely.
