Not changing yet. But we have our van 6 months fulltiming in it. So we where just talking What's right and wrong with it. Will say very little wrong. But got us thinking how often people change Van's.
When we where looking salesmen seemed to be of the thinking the 3rd van you buy is the right one for you.
Will say I would only really change if we seen a bargain as as were not looking that's going to be unlikely.
Rob

What van are you looking for Rob?

Had ours nearly 8 years, first van so it can be done.

Martin

We're on our 3rd van but each van has been right at the time we had them. This will be our final van. We've had this one for 7 years and we'll keep it until Joe can't renew his C1 any longer whenever that might be. He's still got about 18 months before he needs his first medical for it.

Same here. we made the right choice first time, though future emissions may have an effect.

I bought a 2004 van 9 yrs ago and just reluctantly sold it due to being in the LEZ and being unable to upgrade the weight, it was a rear lounge Kontiki 645, by absolute chance this has been the perfect van for us and I would have kept it except for the above. We have now bought a new Swift 596 which should future proof us, it is almost identical apart from the top bed which isn’t over the cab, but a drop down, you lose a lot of useful storage space for bedding with this but I guess it’s progress

I am either just very lucky finding the perfect van or brilliant at research and asking every possible question to make sure it is exactly what I want, most on here will think the latter but I am too modest to admit it ?

Each of our first two years we had 4-5 years each and as I said were right for us at the time.

We've had this van the longest at 5 years.
During our previous 35 years we went through 12 changes.
This van has definitely given us a lot of grief but i now worry that the crap available today will cause us bigger problems.
I would like to think we can now enjoy this van for a while longer.

Bought first van July 17 ace Capri lovely van rear kitchen perfect layout only fault beds to short feet hung out the bottom October 17 went looking for a van with 6ft single beds on a 6 metre van ordered a elldis 120 rear lounge a real treat for sleeping 6ft beds only problem no work service ok for short outings a real pain when away for any longer so October 2018 went looking for a end kitchen van with 6 ft beds had to go for a bit longer van 6.300 we order an auto trail imala 615 picked it up in March 2019 been away loads it’s perfect. So there we go it took three vans to find our ideal van and lots of dosh if I’d done more research I would have saved a good lump of cash. ?

First one 3 months
2nd one 9 months
This one, had it 8 months.........watch this space
Bonkers (in the nicest possible way :) ).

Must be minted...

But seriously, we only had our first van 7 months, next one 5 years and current one is 3.5 years old, with no plans to change at the mo.

We are on our 4th but should not really count the first..Was bought and sold without ever going anywhere in it and it was a pretty rough old dog
Older Hobby.. Loved it but I saw the Miller and loved that one.. an impulse buy.... Had it for about 5 years... Then saw the Autotrail annd loved that. Yet another impulse buy.. Still got it, but.. weelllllll.... ;)

Hired two bought one and love it so sort of got it right third time as the first two weren't right but pointed us in the right direction for the one we did buy.

Our first one a c class was 2 years, the next two it was 5 years each, one being an a class and the next one a PVC, ? so this stuff about third one could be right. ?
Because fourth one was another PVC got it March 18 and will probably keep this until we get fed up with motorhomes, ? or run it in the ground. ? Bob.

Dethleffs Globebus Fiat Ducato 2006;-
My van fits well on My driveway. The habitation door is away from next door's fence so handy for Me to access. Ultra low profile @ only 9FT high. 2L turbo-diesel so not too thirsty or under powered.
Upgrades:- towbar with bumper bar, twin rear view camera, 11KG LPG gaslow, 2 X 100W solar Panels, awesome 12volt / 8KW Chinese air diesel heater, TV, Snipe3 Satellite.
Until I win the lottery and can afford a new Hymer this van suits Me fine.

Start looking to change when it needs a wash?????.
Seriously trying my best to keep this one but a rapido a class caught my eye on the internet the other day.
Small ish one and cant for the life of me find the advert.
As soon as I mentioned to Kate about this rapido we see the buggers everywhere we go.

First was a hire for a week to see if we liked motorhoming. Answer was yes so:-

Did lots of research and worked out what van was for us then hired second for a week to check to find:-

It was exactly what we wanted so (eventually) went out and bought it.

And we've now had it for over ten years, 1000+ nights and 110,000 miles. We look around occasionally but have never seen anything that would say to us "buy me, I'm what you want." That's not to say that we will never change, but it'll probably be circumstances that eventually force us.

I’m starting to look round for my ”last” van, did two years of research and bought our first van, it’s great, zero issues with it and we thought it was the one, missus loves it, however I’ve since learnt I NEED a garage and I NEED a double floor, so I/we should have bought a continental van, maybe an A class, maybe a left hooker (spend more miles on continent)! The missus however doesn’t value a garage and isn’t none too fussed about a double floor as the Alde system keeps her toasty, so I’m really up against it. So better start saving whilst I try and persuade her. Maybe the PX price might have a bearing on it too! Watch this space in around 18 months???

Over the years, our choices have been largely dictated by Health Needs. Fixed beds for one, No "mountain climb" to bed either, Flat floors throughout. We had caravans for many years, Bought our first R-V because of medical needs, Changed for the same reasons. We have the same layout in our current as the last but the step up to the cab is now gone.

you lot are so funny with just a few vans under your belt. At one stage we often had a different van every week or so in the camping season. buy one, do it up and use it, advertise for sale as I was buying the next one. sometimes had 2 or 3 on the go at the same time

Now we are retired I dont see the need for changing, we have everything we need in our tag axle rapido
