Taking your motorhome to America (1 Viewer)

Hi, as anybody taken their own motorhome to America? If so how did you go about it and what are the costs involved, did once have a look on the net and found out that the van goes ahead of you and you have to sort out your flight, was quite expensive but if anyone knows different would be interesting to know. Our van is a tag axle 8.3mtrs

I remember someone saying it's around £100/$100 per foot plus other charges.

Round trip would be circa £4500/£5000.
I'm sure £5000 would rent an RV for a decent length of time over there....and they do have C class around 26ft.

Worth it if going to NZ. We met an English couple there who fund their trips by buying a new caravan in U.K., using it for the summer, export to NZ use it for the summer there and then sell at a profit!

We looked at it 2 years ago not as expensive as you think, contact Seabridge they're the best company.

Shipped the motorbike over for a 9 week trip was much cheaper than hiring.
Depends how long you're planning on going for we spent 16 months travelling the USA over a 3 year period, so bought a RV and Jeep and the sold them when we'd finished. We were exceptionally lucky as we bought at $1.98 and sold at $1.49 so our 3 year trip cost next to nothing. We also set up a limited company in Montana and bought everything through the company which meant as Montana had 0% purchase tax we saved $18000.
All things are possible just need to do a lot of groundwork and research before you start.

Why not hire an RV over there, one way hire trips can cost as little as around £1000 for 30 days for the vehicle . You just have to get there.
A fabulous experience.

We saw lots of European (no UK) motorhomes in Patagonia, for long trips it must be a lot cheaper than hiring or buying...
Here's a German one in Ushuaia...
