Hi, a short presentation of Sydvesten. (Norwegian couple). We are first year travelers with a motorhome. Joined MotorhomeFun to find out more about motorhome camping in UK .

We are planning to visit Scotland during Easter 2015, end March early April. Take a ferry from Norway to Immingham and drive north. We plan to stay for 7-8 days in Scotland, and maybe Orkney if we have time…

We are more than happy to answer any question about travelling in Norway (Scandinavia)

Hi Sydvesten and welcome to Fun, we visited your beautiful country this summer, we managed to visit Flam and Oslo before heading down the coast to catch ferry to Denmark.
We live In the south west of Scotland in a small town called Dumfries, feel free to ask any questions on Scotland and I will do my best to help you. Scotland has loads to do and see and depending what your interested in 7/8 days won't do it justice so I would pick must see things and try and do that.
As I said if you need any help with routes, sites and wildcamping just ask.

Are you using the DFDS freight route for your trip? There's been some discussion on here lately after they stopped the passenger route from Esbjerg to Harwich.

Yes, DFDS Cargo is the only ferry going directly from Norway to UK.. I was in contact with them by phone some weeks ago and asked the question. And at least the verbal information I got, was no problem. We will be 3 person and one Motorhome. Maybe it’s different from Norway to UK (the traffic is less??) compared to Denmark-UK.

Since this is only on the planning stage, I have not made any official enquiry by e-mail. Will wait until January.. But good planning is half of the job, have I learned.. At least it’s fun to do planning during the winter season

Keep meaning to visit Norway again, i was at Preikestolen last time and hung over the edge holding onto the iron bar views to die for and nearly did Enjoy your trip to Scotland it also has some stunning places.

DFDS Seaways Terminal, Western Access Road, Immingham Dock, Immingham, DN40 2LZ, United Kingdom

I've shipped a car out of there with Eimskip to the Faroes a couple of times, no passengers though so we have to fly out after dropping it off. Easy enough to find, follow the signs as in any other terminal.
