Hi can anybody tell me if you can buy the swiss toll at petrol stations near the boarder and about how much do they cost for 3.5t. Leaving fri 10th on the tunnel for Italy. Thanks Dave.

Just back from Switzerland.

You do need a motorway Carnet, I bought mine in advance as they last for the whole year Jan-Dec.

You can buy them at the border, indeed there are five or six officials selling them and checking that you have one when you cross the border - well from the France/Basel crossing at least.

It cost me something like 37.5E but that was with a postage and admin cost.

just remember once put on the windscreen you cannot take it off without damaging it and therefore invalidating it.

Do not worry, just stay on the inside lane as you cross the order and you can buy one then ( the outside lane is for those that already have them)
