Swiss money. Where best to obtain? (1 Viewer)

Currently in Germany and will be going through Switzerland on our way to Italy so e time next week. Although we won’t be spending too long in Switzerland, the chances are that we could be there up to 3 or 4 days.
Can anyone with experience of Swiss transits advise on the best/easiest method of obtaining Swiss Francs please?

(I have a Caxton FX Euro account card, a UK bank Debit card and cash in Euros.)

Bank ATM if you're not buying lots. Most major stores accept Euro but will give change in local currency. I think I used card to pay for most things as I didn't exchange.

I got some money out of an ATM using a debit card. The problem now is I've got some notes left and a bag of their huge coins and I don't know when I will ever spend them.

Just use a card for everything, did a week in Ireland before and never used cash.

They rob you if you give them euro, I can remember years ago things priced in SF and euro, but when we went a couple of years ago, its marked in SF say 40 SF and you give them a 50euro note they give you 10SF change.
And its expensive so take plenty with you. Bob.

That's the trouble they give you a currency you can only spend there.

Don't forget your vignette if using the motorways. It is only issued as a yearly one and costs about £32 - did for my motorbike recently.

Use ATM and card for everything. Spend any change you get in SFr before you leave.

We passed through Switzerland on our way back to France a few weeks ago. I had no Swiss Francs so we wanted to stay on free aires, there are quite a few.

We stopped at Winterthur but couldn’t find the right aire so I had to bite the bullet and get 50 Swiss Francs out of an ATM. We went to Camping am Schutzerweiher in Winterthur for the night, cost a not too bad 38 Swiss Francs. I remember the chap on reception was surprised I wasn’t paying by card.

Another freebie is the aire at Les Ponts de Martel (?spelling) with free parking, water and electric.

Altogether we weren’t all that keen on Switzerland - lots of roadworks, traffic and tunnels.

We got our vignette via an app, dead easy.
