Swift Kontiki 665 - Good buy? (1 Viewer)

Hi All,
Am looking at a M/H for our Son, it's a Swift Kontiki 665 6 berth on an '04 plate, Fiat/Alko with the 2.8 JTD engine. Apart from the obvious things, damp, damage etc, anything I should be looking out for with the Fiat 2.8 engine? This model shouldn't have the reverse gear issue on later Fiats - or does it?. Mileage is in the low 60k range. Seller says it's 3500 kg gross but DVLA say 3850 kg?

i would double check the weight i wouldnt belive anything a dealer tells you he maybe plans to down plate it if you decide to buy it but it may leave you with no payload

Find when the cam belt was last done. Should be every 5 years.. So if not done you want something off for that.
Only issue i had with my 2.8jtd was front near wheel bearing. 2 went in 5 years.. Seems a pretty common thing so keep a listen when driving, put clutch in and coast just for a short while

looking at those figures its barely enough for 6 people at 3850

Assuming the figures in the link above are correct and you son doesn't have a licence to drive over 3500kg this is a definite no-no I'm afraid - even with the higher weight of 3850kg it wouldn't really be a realistic MH for a family nowadays, even just for 2 people it's borderline whether it would be a sensible purchase.

Thanks to everybody, this is starting to ring alarm bells. It's a private seller and he is quoting 3020 kg MRO/3500 MTPLM which doesn't match any specs for the 665 I can find. Also he is quoting an overall length of 6.95m, again this doesn't match any specs which all say 7.45m +/- 5cm. Might give it a miss?
