Hi Everyone,

I'm after a bit of advice please.

The roof mounted wind out awning on my van gets used quite a bit, but the annoying issue I have with it is that it doesn't quite go completely over the habitation door (Auto-sleeper Broadway El Duo).

The awning itself is 3.5 m and I was wondering, if I were to change this to a 3.75 m, that would go over the door, would I need to reposition any of the brackets on the roof, or would it be possible to just use the existing brackets, as we are only looking at a difference of around 10" max (probably less, as we would only need an extra 6" to cover the door).

I don't really want any new holes in the top pf the van (nor patched up old holes!), so looking for the best options.

If you can see how it is fixed you may be able to loosen it and slide it along a few inches, if you do change it you will need the exact model as a replacement.

Doesn't look like you can go very far forward. As Mikeco says see if you can slide it along, it will depend where the rear bracket is. Also if its been fitted properly and sealed all the way along with PU sealant it will be a pig of a job to get it loose.

Yeah, I have been looking at the Dometic PR2000 versions of these, which is the 'new' replacement of them (Prostor 600). It's a little annoying when it rains as it comes down from the edge of the Awning cassette, straight over the door!

Yeah, that is what I did think about trying to move it, as to how it would be sealed! It was factory fitted, so might be a bit of a pain! The only problem with moving this one forward, would be the it would come forward of the back window then, so if we later decided to add a Camp Room, it would be over the window.

Here's the position of the rear bracket and the front one is set fairly symmetrical to it.

Just looked at the spec of your van unless you uprate it you haven't got the payload to carry one fact it hasn't got enough payload for normal use. I would get it on a weighbridge you could well be overweight at the moment.

I have weighed it before and it came well under weight. In the spec, it shows the awning and solar panel weights etc., but I did take it to a weighbridge earlier this year for peace of mind.

You must travel very light as spec shows 329kg payload, ours is 1350kg and we only have 200-300kg spare.

I must admit, I did weigh it before putting any alcohol in it!!:LOL:

With practically everything we need (minus the other half and dog) the van actually weighed in at 3180kg, so I was pleasantly surprised! I wanted to add a MaxxFan, so wanted to check that it wouldn't put me over the weight limits, and as the fan and screen come in at just under 6.5kg, it didn't add too much the the weight.

The book states a user payload of 454 kg.

If you do move the awning first check where the securing positions are marked on the casing itself as there is a limit as to where it is 'safe' to fasten it to the brackets due to the strengthening within it.

As for the rear window, better to sort it for your use now than for a 'might' in the future that may never happen.
