Just arrived at Chester Fairoaks. Set up, water pump on. Water all over the floor at some rate. Surge damper must have gone over winter as I could pull the top off with very little effort. Wardens gave me some no more nails to stick it on as a temp fix. Ordered new one off Amazon. Maybe worth giving it an inspection if you’ve not to avoid what we just experienced. Never even considered checking it. Also; although I’ll empty the fresh water and not turn the pump on, anyone know if I need to drain the boiler to fit the new one. Just a push fit from the look of it

Since 2015, still learning
I’m sure someone that knows your van will come along soon. I would have thought that as long as there isn’t a head of water from the boiler then you should be good with just depressurising the system and using a towel for the spill. I would leave all taps closed after depressurisng the system to avoid the head of water dumping on your floor though. If you feel there’s a chance of that then I’d drain down.

There will be quite a bit of water above the level of the damper, so I would just open the drain and all taps first.

Thanks for all the replies. All helped. New one fitted (£34). Simple push fit and all seems ok now. It was under the bench seat and leaked out lots of water before I located where it was coming from. Only happened when pump was switched on. Another lesson learned😊👍
