Just seen this on mcc facebook page, says he is a professional lorry driver and that this is safest place for dog as it has only short distance to travel before it hits windscreen in the event of hard braking.

Probably the only one who says so then. Too many people whose job involves driving haven't a clue.

This morning we were driving (correctly) in lane 2 of a 4 section of the A19. A gas company (I think) van moved from lane 3 into lane 1 and then (at the last minute before the road split between the A66 and A19) crossed over hatch markings into lane 3. Luckily nobody was too close to him.

Sorry but in terms of impact damage he is correct. If the dog was in firm contact with the screen = zero impact. The further away from the screen the harder the impact. I am NOT commenting on any other aspect of whether the position of the dog constitutes a danger - just that the driver is correct about safety during heavy braking.

But he's not in contact with teh screen Tony. if the brakes are slammed on he'll slide forward a foot, two feet for his back end, and then stop, or go through the window
