Tap leaks sometimes at base where it sits on worktop does tap need replacing.Any info please on changing tap

Not always. Sometimes just the cartridge needs tightening. A pic, and arrow showing where water is coming from will help with responses

Probably the seal on the swivel spout part of the tap. May just need cleaning and the reassembly with a bit of lubricant. How happy / able are you at stripping a tap?
