These are an American product and look pretty good (a bit on the expensive side for what they are maybe?).

I’m able to buy them in the UK, but can’t find much UK feedback / videos about them. It’s the rear bump stop replacements I’m interest in. (y)

Anyone on here got them fitted and could tell me what they think?

Very good easy to fit front and back. Order from Amazon in the US.
Watch You tube lots of info .

Thanks. I’ve watched them, but all American. I just wanted to see if there was any UK feedback using them on our roads and our type of vehicles. (y)

Looks easy enough - if you have a ramp!

Don’t really need a ramp, just flat ground and a good jack (to do one side at a time). Not even any need to remove wheels.

I’ve only got the Fiat issue jack (looks questionable ), and I live on a VERY steep hill. Maybe I can find a car park to do it on?:giggle:

I'm surprised nobody has yet suggested a rear spring-assist kit which you can get for similar money and is as easy to fit. Does the same job but with the added ability to vary the pressure for different situations - obviously for extras like a built in compressor you'll pay more.

I'm talking, of course, about spring-assist, not air suspension which costs multiples more.

Thanks Terry.

Maybe I should have mentioned that I’d researched my options, and just like the idea of fix and forget. (y)

Finally found someone in the UK who have fitted them……..hopefully he’ll give us an update after having them fitted for a while.

Easy fit as well…….

I put Sumo springs on the front, raised the front end about 2-3 inches. Less sway on the motorway, better handling and if you haven't done it get your tracking done !

The aim of fitting these is what?
Had air suspention on my previous MH. Couldn't tell the difference in ride from being pumped up hard (built in compressor) or on lowest soft.
The last MH, a Imala had been uprated from 3500 to 4250.

Softer than air but not unpleasant.

Very popular in America, but slow on the up take here…….seems air systems, extra leaf springs or nothing here.

Far cheaper than air or extra leaf springs.

Does it stop or reduce the bang crash harsh ride. My A class is terrible for it. Funny i dont notice it on my citroen relay long wheelbase van so maybe it is just the tyres.

Take a look on YouTube…….mainly American but you’ll see that people are happy with them.

Plenty of American Van Lifer’s posting videos.

I previously had a 5.4m Ducato PVC. I've now got a 6m a-class on a Ducato chassis. I've used Continental VanContact 4Seasons tyres on both. The a-class is still much more crashy and louder on even small road imperfections. I think it's partly that the bodyshell is less stiff and more prone to booming and shuddering when it hits the bumps. I really want a solution. I previously had air-bags on the rear of the van, and they helped a little. I suspect these SumoSprings will do a similar job, but without the adjustability.

I'm tempted to splash the cash and either get updated dampers, or just go nuts and get full air.

In not paying for full air so looking for a cheaper alternative.
Unfortunately there isnt a difinitive answer.
Semi air some say it doesn’t improve the bumping
Tyres the same and jury out on Sumo springs.

I had the Sumo Springs bumps stops fitted on my 21 plate Merc Sprinter about three months ago. It has stopped the bottoming out and rocking from side to side motion quite noticeably. The van also sits about an inch higher all the way round now.

However to the suspension right on the Sprinter adjustable dampers shocks are the next item on my list followed by and extra leaf spring if needed.

I ordered some on 22nd of this month, paid the delivery / duty etc, hopefully the falling Pound isn’t going to mean I’m going to hit for more money.

However, at the moment they are approximately £110 cheaper, including delivery and duty, than the UK supplier. (y)

I found rear air assist transformed my van. It's on the standard Maxi chassis, but it's tall as well with a large overcab - so the centre of gravity is high. When I first got the van it was horrible going past trucks on the motorway, positively dangerous, the suction effect would really pull the van off line. Going round bends was a roly-poly affair as well.

Fitted Dunlop Airbags assisting the standard rear leaf springs - a kit from Marcle Leisure - and it was transformed, so much better.

If you don’t mind me asking, where did you get them from - ? I am after a SuperSpring leaf spring assist but the UK supplier has no stock and his prices are fairly extreme compared to the USA price.

Somo Spings and SuperSpring tend to be retailed by the same outlets.

Amazon UK.

I ordered through my account with them. £224 for the Springs, then Amazon put on the delivery and import duty and deal with it. Total came to £285.18. Rhodes are charging £399.

Ordered on 22nd, delivery due 4th October.(y)

Useful info thanks (y) - I keep forgetting to check Amazon.com as an option. I know I can get the spring in France at a better price than the UK so might have to include picking it up on the next trip over there. Pretty sure I can fit it without any specialist tools so I could drive it home as part of the van .......

If you watch the video above, it really is a simple job……my problem is I haven’t got a flat area to Jack the van up. Therefore, I’ll be doin* the job on my sons drive next time I visit him. (y)

Any option for an ALKO chassis?

If your chassis uses standard Fiat Spring Assisters (commonly known as Bump Stops), I don’t see why not.

HOWEVER, I’m no expert so I’d enquire with the UK Suppliers first……then buy elsewhere if they do fit.(y)

I’ve already got the SumoSpring fitted ( and they work pretty well) … the SuperSpring is an extra leaf that’s added to the existing leaf spring set.

My van is Merc based and its a 316 rather than a 416 - so 3.5 t rather than 4.1 t. The 416 has an extra leaf in the spring set up as standard. Once you add a van full of furniture, fittings, luggage, pop-top, water, bike-rack, spare wheel, and people the 316 seems to run out of suspension quite quickly!
