Can I ask too as we are getting sea France 8pm boat on Monday evening. Are you on that Shiftzz ?
We need:

a) Safe aire in Calais or can you park up in the port when you get off the boat?
We don't want to drive far as we hum... Dave will have driven from North Wales.
b) Can you get BP green gas lite refils in France?

c) We are going to buy a French gas cylinder. Which is the easiest to refil over France
Where do we get it?
Where do we get the regulator?
Thanks for the help,
Lucille

Hi Lucille

We are going on the Friday, we normalt stay in the Citi de Europe , next to the police station and have done number of times. It appears to be safe enough.

Long way from North Wales (I was born in Anglesey)

Cant help on the gas stuff...

The gas issue:

You will pay a deposit for a gas bottle, as in England. Various companies supply gas in France and each has its own colour for its bottles.
Every supermarket, petrol station and hardware store in France will sell gas. If one doesn't have your particular colour of bottle, move a hundred metres down the road and you will find one that does.
We use Butagaz(?), a dark green bottle. Some places only sell Primagaz, silvery-blue bottle. Most supermarkets will have all types and it's not the slightest problem to find refills.

Hi there is an aire in Calais, as you enter the harbour you can see it on your right,to get to it exit the dock and head for centre ville then follow calais plage you will pick up the aire sign,if you miss the signs when you reach the beach head for the dock along the prom and you will drive into it.
Hope this helps

And if the Aire is full or noisy (ships fog horns), turn left out of the Aire, up the road, across the roundabout, over the bridge , and turn right into Boulevard De La Resistance. Along to the roundabout, is the entrance to a huge lorry park. Park over by the waters edge near the marina. Security comes round in their van several times through the night, and it's not as noisy. It is also very handy for the town centre.

Cheers,

Jock.

Hi Staging Lady

You can get your gas from a supermarket or filling station (just be aware that supermarkets also do their own brand gas bottles) when you are leaving France just take your bottle and receipt to the supermarket/filling station and they will refund your deposit.
Have a good trip.
