Still a newbie
Hi all.
Two adults and two children.
We are near to heading off on holidays soon.we are sailing to Santander and will have 18 days in france.we will spend 3 days to get from Santander to Lourdes, where we have a campsite booked for three nights.we have nothing else booked.we have got the aires books.
So we are in Lourdes and have 11 night's left before we sail home.where should we go from there?.
Any suggestions please

any takers?????

Can't help with sites but are you returning via Santander?

Gives your request a 'bump'

Come on everyone - help out

I am not sure how far Lourdes is from Santander, but if you are sailing back from Santander I would go back into Spain and either drive across to the Med or try the Northern Spain coast.

Yes there are a few places along the northern spanish coast that are stunning. You also have the 'elephant' aire near santander ,which others who have been can hopefully add more details to.

Many years ago we spent a lovely week at a campsite at Col D'Ibardon which is a bit inland from St Jean de Luz. It had a nice pool and good takeaway from memory and our kids loved it. I would also recommend the aire at the elephant park , Cabercano, i think? It's well worth a visit and thete are good restaurants in the village... Hope this helps....

If youre going to Lourdes isnt there a pilgrim trail/route you can follow, stopping at aires along the way? We came across lots of religious statues which we were told were part of the 'jesus trail'

I would recommend the animal park at Cabercano too. Its huge and well worth a visit but a bit expensive for just one day. We bought an annual ticket which works out cheaper if you want to go more than once. We've spent 6 days in there this year so got our money's worth. The aire is free. Not the best facilities but OK with a lakeside view and some shade.

We're currently on the aire at St Eulalie de Born. 7.50 euros a night. Very relaxed by a lake with a beach. Good for cycling and swimming. Lots of kids here enjoying themselves. Also Soustons plage is not far from Santander. Not sure where these places are in relation to Lourdes though. Check out one of the apps I use search for sites.
