hi all,
We finally made it and set off for Spain and Portugal yesterday. We have never had the strikeback system on a MH before and when we pulled over in an aire in France last night we couldn’t work out how to arm the vehicle yet at the same time disable the internal sensors. We tried to follow the instructions (pressing button b twice) but it didn’t beep so we weren’t sure if we had done it right. As we pulled up late and there were other Motorhomes bedded down for the night we didn’t want to chance it so ended up not arming the vehicle so as not to wake everybody if it went off.

We have the 4 little rocker switches on the dashboard and I know 1 of these is to turn off internal sensors for if you have dogs etc but there is no mention of these switches in the instructions. Do we need to set it on the fob AND use the rocker switch or just one or the other? Any help appreciated.

Use the fob, Press button A once (you’ll hear clicking sounds), then button B, listen for the 3 beeps, then button B again and another 3 beeps

Red rocker turns off the internal siren
Blue rocker alters the intensity of the blue LEDs
Black rocker is for the security tether that plugs in the back

You turn off the internal sensor via the fob as faraway says

Got strikeback all done on 1 button wait for Eddie on vanbitz
Yes wait for Vanbitz as it seems they work differently mine is A, B, B and bleeps 4 times to confirm.

4. OPERATION OF THE 'SLEEP' MODE (with WarnAway Function) (or to leave a pet in the motorhome and the alarm system on)

You can shut down the internal sensors, sleep in your motorcaravan, and still maintain perimeter protection. Strikeback incorporates a “WarnAway” function to advise any one in the vicinity that your motorhome is still protected overnight, even though you are in occupancy. This will be of great value when wildcamping or on Aires where it is known that people will hang around looking for suitable “vulnerable” targets.

1. Arm Strikeback in the normal way. (Small Button)
2.. Press “Button B” (Large Button) twice.

The system will flash the lights 3 times and beep 3 times after each press. The LED will flash very fast for the first 25 seconds to confirm, then flash the normal alarmed mode.

Thanks everyone, I have the instructions and followed them but after pressing button b we didn’t get any beeps at all so had no way of knowing if the internal sensors were off. We darent move an inch at the time to check due to not wanting to disturb others. I know the alarm works properly as I’ve inadvertently set it off a couple of times outside the house.

We are going to find a quiet lay-by shortly and give it a go and see what happens when we move around inside.

Just what I was going to suggest... try it out when you're not trying to use it for real, late at night.

Was the system on the Motorhome when you bought it? Or our you our customer and had the Growler installed recently? The reason I ask is the arming proceedure for our 2019 system system is slightly different and been installed for about eight weeks

If it was on the van when you bought it, And it definitely doesn’t ‘beep’ when you press button B it could be that bits have been removed. I know that the alarm ‘sounds’ but the Growler system have a minimum of five sirens

Part of our Non Starter system is built into the siren that ‘beeps’ for example

If this is the case you will need to contact the office on Monday, prove your the new owner and they can check the records and see what’s what

I paid to have my system transferred to me when I bought my van second hand...

for some reason my internal sensor or should I say DE SENSOR doesn't work now .. with mine you push the button for three seconds to desensor the alarm...

I phoned up but they were very good and talked me through how to do it and test it on the phone .. very patient. However, sadly, there seems to be a fault and was told I would need to call in to have the wiring traced .... since they now a million miles away .. sort of ... I am without an alarm at night and have to use different security until it is sorted.

Hope yours is sorted : they are very good over the phone.

Yay! Success, thank you all so much. Dodgy fob! Fortunately I had spare keys and fob with me and this time it beeped on pressing button b. All works correctly and turns off the sensors and while we were at it we set the sirens off deliberately to test them - they definitely work!! Even the 2nd fob is a bit hit and miss and you have to press really hard. The first fob works about one in every 10 presses. Something we will have to sort later but at least we can manage for now.

@eddievanbitz yes it was on the MH when we got it but as soon as the log book arrived just before Xmas I rang you guys and got the system reregistered to us and you sent the new paperwork out immediately - fantastic service so thank you. We will probably be paying you a visit in Taunton in the spring to go through everything and purchase some extras.

I’m glad you got it sorted. I’m a big fan if VanBitz, both what they supply and the service they give. I think I have nearly everything they supply! I must say though that the little blue fobs for the Growler are a bit flimsy and pushing the buttons correctly seems to be an acquired art! I would be happy if they would develop a more solid one more suited to my fat fingers. Challenge for you @eddievanbitz !
