Not sure if this has been mentioned anywhere else on the forum, but I've just had an email from Sky with the following information:

"As a Sky customer, from 1 April, 2018 you can watch our great content throughout the EU using any compatible portable device (see our Supported apps section below).
To view in the EU, you don’t need to do anything differently, there are no additional steps or requirements, simply watch the shows you want as you would when at home.
We just need to know that you remain a resident of the UK or Republic of Ireland and are only in the EU on a temporary basis. You can confirm this by viewing content on one of your supported devices when you’re back at home.
Don’t worry, if you forget, we’ll send you an email reminder to view in the UK or Republic of Ireland so you can continue to enjoy our content when you’re next in the EU."

I believe you have to stream it on another of your devices first, before you go, so your other device is recognosed, iPad etc, to be able to view it, more info with the e-mail info.

The key thing about the EU streaming, is that Sky will allow you 37 days of streaming, before the device needs to be reconnected using a UK IP address, as the new EU rules simply apply for short trips, like for business or holidays. It is not designed for expats, hence the time limit.
Also although it is for Sky apps, things like iPlayer are not covered by these new rules, and will still be geoblocked.

Of course this is only for a year, as will it remain after Brexit...?

Yes.
But it will only receive the channels that your dish is large enough to receive.
Viewing from satellite, with a Sky digibox, Sky HD or Skyq, is NOT covered by these new EU rules

Thanks for info - I’m still a bit confused... are you saying that our digibox won’t work?

If you’re taking your Sky box and connecting it to a dish on your van that isn’t streaming. That’s always worked and always will do as long as you’re within the footprint of the satellite.

Streaming refers to watching over the internet on a mobile device, in this case using the SkyGo app, so a dish and a set top box aren’t required.
