Stops on Route Utils

Have I forgotten something obvious?
Apart from looking at a map & finding my own stops to break up a journey, are there any online tools for plotting a journey & finding stops on route?
Like picnic areas, beauty stops, etc.

My example is a route from Thatcham to Margate and stopping for a break on the M26 - not a night stop

Most satnavs will have points of interest options on them.
Pick a general area and type of poi that you like and oft you go.

Google maps does it, but its a bit clunky.

Best option is to plan a route, then estimate whereabouts you'll want a break and then explore that area by right clicking and choosing whats near by, the typing in picnic area and it will show all the picnic sites in that region.

Or you can simply ask siri / google assist or as above search on your sat nav

Yep, those are the options I remembered.

Maybe if I had any nous as a coder there’s a gap here in the market for an app to pop up suggestions when a user enters route and how long they want to drive before a break.
I’m thinking of the planning stage - not so much when on route.

When you use a route planner like the AA one you can add ‘vias’ but I’d like the route planner to suggest vias/stops when route & section journey times are added.

So, in my M26 example, where around Maidstone should I break up my journey?

The Old "Autoroute", (unavailable since 2012 unfortunately) which I still use for Route planning. Has the facility to plot all features including Picnic area`s and landmarks either side of a route. You may be able to get it off flea bay if interested?. I keep it as I have all the CC and CCC sites plus Pub stops Plotted on it. I update it from the Club books as they come out.

Brill. ‘Cos I was a nipper in the real Leeds I’m always intrigued by places called Leeds that aren’t right but I still haven’t made it to this castle.

Google will do all this , just need to get into the things in it, mainly by clicking on your Google avatar when you have maps up.
