Hello. We have not used our AS Kingham PVC yet. How do we contain our 2 year old 🐶 in the van when door is open? If he sees a 🐇 outside, he’ll be off 😧. In our other coach built motorhomes, we had the screen or put a board across. Hope someone has an answer.

Have him on his lead until you’ve trained him not to leave the van until you give him the command?

Fix a running lead parallel with the van (just in front of the wheels) and attach his lead to the running lead with a carabiner; that’s what we used for our two boxers.

I agree. You need him on a lead and when on club sites they even have a maximum length to adhere to.

I have 2 dogs, one of which is functionally blind. I use an expanding wooden gate, a bit like thick trellis to give them a barrier

This looks neat but have no idea if it's suitable. Says no drilling

I had a Fairford for a short time and used a child stair gate from the kitchen to the door pillar. Just need one the right width, obviously!

I remember seeing that on Dragons Den and thinking it was a good idea, as it moves with the door.

That sound good. Saw some expanding trellis in B and M. Have not got a lot of storage or payload in the Kingham. Thank you.

I like having the sliding door open as much as possible so put the dog on a long lead. I bought a 50 long lead from Amazon and made up a few leads of varying lengths to suit. Attached around the passenger seat or to a ground spike.

My welsh terrier is untrainable. Tried so many times. All trainers have given up, its a breed thing. He only has to see a 3 inch opening and he'll head for 'freedom'. We permanently have a 6ft lead wrapped around the table leg to keep him in. He's now 7 and not as bad as he used to be. He's not bothered about being on leads he's used to it.

We had a Welsh Terrier, any time the front door was open and just room for his nose to fit in the gap he'd be out and gone! Went into a house up the road where they were having a kid's party and popped the balloons... so embarrassing!:oops:

Luckily my 2 Jacks trained well and will not go out of an open door unless told to.
When I walked through our garden gate they would also stop until told it’s ok😁

The last Jack I had was a nightmare and would run off anywhere😁😁

In my PVC I rotate the passenger seat and slip the handle of an extending lead over the seat belt stalk. Length can be easily adjusted according to whatever is needed, takes seconds.

We used an expandable safety gate which would fit in the door gap, we still use one at home in the door to the garden, 1 of our dogs would have dug halfway to Australia if left unsupervised 😄😄

Another benefit of having a dog gate is to actually stop strange inquisitive or 'argumentative' dogs (or naughty people!) coming into our camper/MH especially if we're parked next to a pavement and others are walking by with their dogs. Also with 3 dogs having them all on leads to keep them in would mean a 'Mission Impossible' type challenge if we needed to move from one end of the MH to the other, not to mention their ability to tie themselves in numerous knots! :giggle:

We've got those too but the trouble is that you have to take it off and put it back all the time, we're constantly in and out of our MH (as we were with the campers) when away so it became a big faff.

No way out of the back door for us, but I did pinch Minxy ‘s idea of putting up clear perspex to protect the blinds, not from us sitting in bed, but from puppy paws.

I’m lost,if you cover the window with Perspex, how do you get to the blinds? I have just bought a small expanding trellis to stop my pup getting out. Will install tomorrow and see if it works.
