Does anyone know of a stopover/pub stop near Rayleigh in Essex. We are taking our motorhome to a garage in Rochford on Monday and would like to catch up with an old friend Sunday evening who lives in Rayleigh. We're quite happy to buy food in a pub or restaurant if we can stop there. There is a CL nearby but quite expensive with no facilities. Thanks.

Its where I stay when I need to see friends. You could go to the harvester at the rayleigh weir for a meal? Or the bell house, lovely food.

Thanks but we're with the other club (camc) so I don't think it's open to us. I may ask tomorrow.

If you know you are going to a pub for a drink/meal with your friends, give the pub a call and ask to stay in car park. Good luck

I have tried looking at pubs in the area to see if their car parks would accommodate our van, I don't know the area and haven't found any yet. One looks like a narrow entry the other has a pay and display!

There are plenty of pubs with car parks in Rayleigh. It a case of knowing which one you are heading for. Perhaps your friends can suggest a pub. Alternatively like we do when we visit friends throughout the UK, just park up outside their address, or near by. Its only one night and you will never be noticed and your van looks about the same size as ours.. Work on the principle that if you were dropping in to theirs for a cup of tea the van would be parked outside. If that's the case you stayed for a longer time than a cup of tea. I think many people forget you are allowed to park legally anywhere.

if youre going via the m25, you might take advantage of the delays to stay on it overnight .....
