Camping Blaarmeerson is where we stayed a few years ago, bus stop on the site which takes you into Ghent centre.

We stopped on the car park in the centre of this map for one or two nights in July 2013. It's next to a sailing / rowing club and there were a couple of other motorhomes there too. No services so go with fresh water and empty casette!

Just checked blaarmeesen website they only take up to 7metre motorhomes ours is 9 so looks
Like the carpark could be a option.would it be safe to leave motorhome there during the day unattended thanks for replies all very helpful to a novice traveller.

We left ours parked and walked into the centre of Ghent for the afternoon - got back early evening.

There is also the 'official' aire at Ghentbrugge, but it is under an elevated motorway and quite noisy. The advantage is that it is next to the bus / tram depot so an easy trip is available to the centre. The earlier car park I posted is probably nearer the centre (and quieter).
