***STOLEN. Our beloved Swift Autocruise Alto (Molly) was stolen around 7:30pm yesterday evening 7.6.2020 from Burton on Trent (DE14).

It was last seen on the A38 at Muckley Corner heading south.

Please can you keep a look out for it.

We would really appreciate any information if you see or hear anything.

So sorry to read this. It is not the sort of motorhome we are used to seeing stolen, I hope this means it will standout and get back to you.

Sorry to hear of this, we're not far from Burton but Muckley Corner is heading away from us - I will obviously keep eye out and spread the word....
Just been reading other thread about dealers selling loads of vans......... let's hope this doesn't also mean there will be an increase in popularity of those people that want a van but don't want to pay for it!! If there isn't enough going on to worry about without having your beautiful van taken. Really feel for you guys.

if your van gets stolen, carefully search all the nearby roads and carparks, as it is common for them to park the van up within 2 mile radius and watch it for 24 hours to see if it has a tracker. Many have been recovered this way

As a PVC owner albeit Fiat not Peugeot can I ask what additional security was fitted to your van. I think van living is increasing in popularity and whilst the travelling community tend to favour larger motorhomes smaller vehicles seem popular with van lifers.

When ours got stolen we recovered it in a side road about 45mins away. Good luck hope you find it.

Alarm, immobiliser and stop lock.
Not sure how, but they can be in and away within 1 minute.
A 19 plate was stolen not too far away from me and it took just 1 minute to be in and gone.
For the thousands of you with Fiat / Peugeot based motorhomes, please be aware.

a good reason to disable or lock the OBD port below the steering wheel

I have one of these fitted to our OBD port.
It seems a lot of money for what you get, but it does the job well, and hey how much is you van worth and the hassle that goes with loosing it ?

Because there is so little give on the wiring on the back of the OBD on our Peugoet, I could not fit the padlock type or move the port enough to hide it and fit a dummy port in it's place.

Which brings Mike back to his little hidden switch somewhere in the ignition circuit. Of course it won't stop them, but boy will it slow them down. This has to be the best, almost no cost, accessory on the motorhome market. :gum:

We think ours was
relay theft where they pick up the signal of the key fob with a laptop To open the doors And override the immobiliser then go in obd port which had been tampered with to start her up and drive off. This does not explain how when we recovered the Van she was locked.
or a key was copied when the habitation service was done to get in and lock, and override on obd port.

I have an obd cover amongst loads of other things on my Transit. When the garage here had need of access to it last week for the egr valve they couldn't understand why it was necessary even though I explained it

don't over think how they stole your van, it's not keyless entry, so not a relay theft. Unlikely somebody went to the risk and expense of cloning a key whilst the van was serviced. The thieves have a good working knowledge of how the locks etc work and can legally buy a locksmith's device to read the lock code and then unlock/lock the door. This turns off most alarm systems as they are connected to the central locking. Then plug in a device to the obd port, which sees the call for the immobiliser when the chipless key is in the ignition. Clever software decodes this and replies to the system that the transponder chip is present, so starting the engine. All in it takes well under a minute to open and start the engine

I had a knock on door yesterday Irish ☘️ man standing there says noticed you have not used your motorhome for a few weeks do you want to sell it.I said no don’t want to sell it and there is a reason it has not moved of the Drive since we got home from Spain.😤.he said ok can I leave you my phone number and if you decide to sell it in the future give him a ring. When he got back in his car I got his reg number and checked the alarm was on.Still had to get up in the night to check it was still on the drive😣

Have had the same a few times, I just ask if they want me to let the dogs out to make sure they leave

Thanks makes sense now, just glad we had a tracker fitted to enable recovery.
We now have a VanBitz Growler, plus Heosafe dead locks , CCTV and park a van in front of it just in case the bastards try again.
