Well, well! It's arrived! More to come. It really has been a very stressful event. But, as I said to swmbo when she was mopping up the grey bathwater this morning, the end is in sight! We have found a replacement van, a plastic one this time. An Elddis 115, 2020. Hopefully should last us out our motorhoming days. It's got a cat 1 burglar alarm, a tracker, I hope, it's only done 3,700 miles. And it'll be ready for our next jolly to France in September. I'd have preferred another pvc, but swmbo likes this one.
Seriously, well nearly seriously, thanks to everyone on this forum for your support, even those who kindly pointed out the error of my ways. Genuinely, it did help. Such a black time. So you don't get rid of me that easily!! I shall be back on rallies soon! Thanks, peeps😁

Keep those wheels turning and enjoy. Hopefully in a few weeks time this last couple of months will become a distant memory

That’s great news, happy touring👍👍

So did the insurance settle satisfactorily?

So did the insurance settle satisfactorily?
Depends, there's a shortfall, but I'm buying a newer van. I'd have preferred to stay with the last van, but it was 6 years old by now. Plus we've not settled on the contents. Honestly, it was a disaster, but there is a future now. So yes, happy-ish. The other aspect is the shock, and the black hole that you find yourself in. It's just what is.

Great news on the new motorhome. Sorry you’re still wrangling over the contents value and hope that is soon resolved.

Great news now time to make up for those lost days and make new and happy memories
Safe and happy travels 🥰

That is good news for you, at least you got a newer van and a bit more space than in a panel van. Happy Holidays.

Good for you and enjoy your new MoHo 👍

Brilliant news. Hope you have many happy times in your new momo.
You may even get to Twin Lakes for a visit. If you do, say Hello from us.

Brilliant to hear your news, even though it’s not what you wanted to happen. Enjoy your new MH.

Dorwyn I’m glad there is a reasonable outcome to what is quite a horrible experience. Put it all behind you and enjoy your new MoHo.

Best wishes. Glad you are soon to be back in harness.
p.s. keep the existing avatar, it's a dream.

Glad it has a reasonable outcome. One question does the insurance pay out for any extras fitted to the van i.e. Lithium batteries and all associated electronics, inverter and such.

Pleased to hear you are moving forward after the horrible experience of losing your van.

Best wishes for happy travels and hope the final administrative stuff gets sorted soon. 👍

They will say that the extras make little difference to the second hand value. The buyer may not value the extras, perhaps may not have even wanted them. This is why sellers sometimes take them off and sell them separately. In my case on my new van, the extras were welcome. But the price was the price. I did list the underfloor LPG, but some people are worried about them. And the Fiamma awning, but some prefer a Thule. Basically, if it's stolen, those things are just . . . gone. With van.

So pleased that you have a new van on the way. Use it as an opportunity not to replace all the stuff you never used. 🙈 but just had to buy as it was the latest must have item. Enjoy kitting it out and your first adventure in the chapter . Enjoy the excitement of a new van ,the only way is forward .(y)

It's amazing how much you collect, as you say, buying the latest thing. I did make a list, an inventory, much of which we thought was essential and has now gone. Now we are going through the process of starting again, this time with experience. We have decided to keep it to the minimum. We are booked on the tunnel in about three week's time. It's not critical, we can just wing it, just buy what we need on the day. Stuff is no dearer over there. That's what we say now, but, you know... temptation!
