Hi All,

Asking a question re Stellplatz.

We all know??? that the winding out of awnings, bringing a chair out of the bowels of the van and, God forbid, opening a window whilst on a french Aire is strictly against 'The Rules':rolleyes::rolleyes:

What is the situation in Germany please?

In accordance with the thread re Insurance Small print, you will understand that this is NOT an admission that we will be visiting that country:whistle::whistle::whistle:

You can do what you like on a Stellplatz, wind your awning fully out, bring out your tables and chairs, sun loungers, bar b que, mats, wind breaks etc etc

we have always found you can do what you like on french aires as long as you are not taking up someone elses space, which is fair enough.

There are aires, then there are aires. All are different.
You must know that to the French 'The Rules' are purely for guidance.
On many aires this is the norm:-

I have one of those silly electronic things on my pickup truck that plays animal noises through a loudspeaker. I would love one on the bus that played the dambusters theme as I pulled onto different stelplatz :).

Stellplatz that don't have marked out parking spaces are quite uncommon and you can do what you like in your space. There are always exceptions like Cochem but they are obvious and you would not dream of setting up camp LOl

Cologne/Koln another where you just follow suit but more like an Aire than a Stellplatz . Just go with the flow. A terrific place BTW

We're here at this very moment in time. A German Stellplatz at Wildeshausen. The photo was when we were here in July. (I'm still in my bed so not gone out to take a recent one!)

We're the silver van in the shade. On grass with two hardstanding tracks for the wheels and loads of space.
