Got the midday ferry from Plymouth to Santandar,, reasonable crossing,, disembarked 1pm Spanish time,, snow on the high ground around Santandar,, after the mountains, clear roads,,
Ok around Madrid,, but after a bit of snow,, on a few miles and more snow,, bit further on "Bloody Hell" all hell let loose, even caught the Spanish out,,
Between Madrid and Albacete it was two to three foot thick literally a white out,, they did get snow ploughs out and cleared a single carriageway,, umpteen lorries off the road and a couple of really nasty crashes involving lorries and small vans,,
At one point I was considering pulling off the road I could not see a hand in front of my face,, down to a few miles an hour and just keeping the tail lights of a lorry in view for guidance..
Further down the police were making all lorries and heavy stuff pull of into any safe parking area they could find and not letting them go on.
After Albecete it started to clear halfway to Alicante it went to sleet then heavy rain,, what a difference in 30 - 40 miles..
Got to Marjal about 11pm,, and well and truly knackered..
Sunny today but blowing a hooley,, and temp feels like minus 2..
If this is going to be the way the winter is going we will be back to a nice centrally heated house towards the end of January..
Aint staying here..
So any body coming down from Santandar would be advised to check forecast and road conditions,, :thumb:
