Status showing “open” (1 Viewer)

can anyone tell me what the above status means with regard to a Victron solar controller. Manual only shows bulk, absorption and float. Thanks.

OPEN in an electrical sense usually means open circuit. A break somewhere in the wiring.

Yes that’s right. I just wondered whether it was possibly insufficient sun and was staying open to enter bulk charging when sufficient sun became available. Anyone experienced this.

We have just fitted the new Victron Energy smart 15amp (bluetoothed to phone) controller, never seen "open" come up as yet.
I would guess it might mean open circuit, so check fuses, check voltage is coming in from panels with a multimeter,that should tell you if its the front end before the controller is working OK, then if no luck phone victron and ask them. Photonic Universe are also very good at teckie stuff.

Break in circuit.. wire broken or fuse blown..

pull solar fuse and see if it changes..

check solar fuse

check voltage at solar input with multimeter

Have just checked again, as the connection is to the BMV 700 and not direct to the controller, and it’s the relay state that is showing open. It appears the app is connecting to the battery monitor rather than the solar controller. Hopefully the relay is meant to be home.
