Above stopped working (no signal) .Have stripped down and looks like a "fuse" in wide end -is it worth bypassing it or getting a more up to date ariel?

Wouldn't think its a fuse, as far as I know its a 'dumb' aerial.... Not powered..... The amplifier is in the van.
530 is still a modern aerial so I wouldn't bin it for the sake of it.
Try bridging whatever it is that looks like a fuse.

The last two Status 530 aerials we've had have let water into the head & stopped working as a result.
They used to be excellent but, I think they've started building down to a price instead of up to a quality. Tis just my experience & opinion of course.

The last aerial I bought was a Teleco & it could get a signal in places a Status couldn't even dream of.

looks like a "fuse"?

Like a coil of wire ? That could be an inductor to tune it.

Many aerial problems are unsoldered or lose connections of the cables, give them a good looking at.

Found it. With the two black tails behind the white coax.
It looks like a resistor from what I can see of it. If it has blown it needs replacing to give the aerial it's correct resistance... Usually 50 or 75ohms
